    Sounds to me like you are getting some bad condensers. also check the small wires on the coil to make sure the neg side is going to the distributor.

    Source for new 861 two stage clutch

    since the engine is rebuilt you will be adding extra hp and torque that the clutch hasn't seen in awhile. I would put it in now instead of paying for a split on top of a new clutch later.

    I needed more room from the seat to the steering wheel. I had seen where there was plates welded on the front edge. I found that if I knocked the roll pins out of the slots that I could just turn the base around and gain about 4 inches. It still clears everything.

    You may be able to squeeze a little more clearance by loosening the two bolts at the bottom of the dog leg and have someone lift the hood straight up while tightening the bolts back up.
