    looks in good shape and has been opened up not that long ago and probably replaced, I allowed for a little bit of stretch on the new one but they probably didn't on the other side, over 9Ft of chain don't think it will take all that long.

    That was the adjuster- two large nuts holding its position and a tensioner nut, bolt and plate to move it along- no fun to get at but feel better about having it right.

    I noticed two large bolts that go through that area, about the only thing that would have anything to do with the idler sprocket, will give it a try this morning, thanks for your help, let you know how it turns out

    Yup that was it, broken in half, got the new one in today- other side chain looks good but a little loose and not sure how to adjust it to take some slack out of it, - manual I ordered still hasn't arrived

    Just got this machine as a working project and everything seems to work great except after moving it around a bit the left hand drive refuses to move without locking up, have a manual coming but just wondered if anyone else knows there way around this model.

    Mine is a 55 Major, but for an hours work if that I can check it out...mine are a little worn and these ones are in great shape so it's worth the time, all rebuilt with very few hours on it and now to put it to work, thanks once again for your input, kind of new here and this site is a great...

    Thanks for your reply but yes, I read up on the head and that is why I didn't use it, I only wanted to use the rocker arm assembly and push rods if they would work.- Kinda like my old Harley, if there is something that is a better upgrade than the original, well you know:)

    Look like they would but all the FL valves have caps on them and the Major only on half the valves, could be a problem, push rods seem the same length but a little more skookum.

    Will these fit on a 55 Major, they are a heavier push rod and the rockers are in nice shape... thinking about swapping the setup for my 55's

    Started her up briefly a couple of times, sounds and runs great, now for the break in, any suggestions,- no fields to plow or anything like that, mostly used for hauling logs, trailers and various other things, a friend told me to re torque the head after the first warm up, ( fiber head gasket)...

    thank you, pretty close to that now from the factory but like to check each one before I install it... rebuild getting there :)
