    Tea 20 Brake Return Springs

My understanding is that for floating cam type brakes springs should be as follows: R/H side blue at top, red at bottom L/H side red at top, blue at bottom Brake shoes should be centralised in the drum before adjusting.

    Tea 20 Brake Return Springs

Just to clarify, the weaker spring on the bottom shoe allows this shoe to operate first when in forward motion.

    Tea 20 Brake Return Springs

It is correct to have different colored springs in the brakes, as one is stronger than the other. This allows one brake shoe to act first, and should be the leading shoe. There is some debate whether the leading shoe should be the same on both sides of the tractor. If they are the same then both...

    12 volt conversion question

I would have thought that a 12V supply to a 6V starter motor, regardless of the cable size, will always give a bigger "kick" than a 6V supply.

    TO-20 Steering sector arm seals

    Oil seal size is 1 7/8" outside and 1 5/16" inside. This converts to 47.625 mm x 33.3375 mm From my research the Sparex S50257 is 47 mm x 32 mm, which is incorrect. Try SKF 13027 PR6514 or PR3985 or National Oilseals part number:47343 47.60 x 33.32 x 9.53 (1.874 x 1.312 x 0.375) The modern...

original sediment bowl for a Ferguson FE-35 petrol

Sorry I don't know of used sources for the complete bowl fitting. You might try E-Bay, there are hundreds listed. For an original your best bet is a salvage yard, and others on this forum should be able to guide you to yards close to your location. I'm in Tasmania.

original sediment bowl for a Ferguson FE-35 petrol

The sediment bowl on my late (1956) TEA20 looks identical to the bowl on the 35s described. It has AC on the top and a nylon shut-off valve. I got a new shut off valve from a seller on E-Bay in Monroe, Louisiana. Jenkins Enterprises, daytrader55. You can see the wear in the groove at the tip...

    TO-20: Tires: Rims/Calcium Chloride... and 12.4 vs. 11.2?

12.4s are slightly larger diameter so will give higher road speed but less traction torque. 11.2s look better, but that's an opinion. Water filling useful in some situations, but traction can be increased by lowering pressure to say 9 psi to increase contact area. Normal rear tyre pressure...

    Nutz & boltz

Only source I have found is in the UK. http://www.ploughmyfield.com/2010/04/12/new-product-added/ 5/8" UNF nuts with 1-1/16" across flats were available last year for 12 GBP for quantity of 10. Unfortunately, supplier only posted within UK (for free), so you have to organise a re-post or a...

    TO 20 Axle shims

Advice I receive from John(UK) on shims and gaskets on rear axles was as follows: "The correct order for gaskets and shims is:- starting at the axle:- shims/gasket/brake back plate/gasket/Hub. Don't use gasket cement of any kind as the axle never fully tightens and moves slightly, this will...

Australian paint colours for Grey Ferguson tractors

Charles, Matt I contacted GW Tractors, (have outlets in Brisbane and Melbourne), re the early Ferguson colours. They have in stock 1 litre cans of Vapormatic bronze VLB5199 at nearly AUS$43. Don't know if larger cans are available. Also have the early grey and red colours as specified in...

Australian paint colours for Grey Ferguson tractors

Charles Check out the FENA colour chart. There is a distinction between the Ferguson Gray M-1001 for TE20 tractors, and the Ferguson Light Gray M-1011 for early FE35, (which I presume is the Grey and gold). There is not a lot of difference between these two colours. I think the N53 is closer...
