Will Engine Parts from SA fit a 140?

Crankshaft is different and water pump is different. Here is a direct link to my project. I started out with a 49 Super A and I salvaged a 140. A super A crankshaft will not work with a 140, but a 140 crankshaft will work for a Super A so long as the threaded part on the crank where the...

    electronic ignition conversion

I"m sure there is someone around you that will rebuild a distributor. You could always send it off to get it done. Just a thought. I ordered a rebuilt distributor with Petronix and I like it very much.

    Mileage expectations?? 2008 Chev w/5.3 - 4 by 4 automatic

It's not the most powerful engine, the early years of active fuel management (displacement on demand) had a few hiccups, but I hear story after story of very high-mileage 5.3's. Bottom end is built very well, slightly oversquare (most of the cubic inches come from the bore) with a tough...

    New Holland or Massey Ferguson?

+1 for Kioti I sat in a work master 35, very uncomfortable. I love the Workmaster/Farmall A 45, but the new holland style you're looking at is my least favorite. Given the choice though I guess I'd go Massey.

    Union Workers

I'm UNION! I'm in a public sector union. I don't get union breaks, I don't have collective bargaining and I cannot strike; BUT I have the heart and lung bill, I have the firefighters bill of rights and I have the peace of mind that if I die whether on duty or not my family will get half of my...

    Tractor Fatality update

Agreed, but I'll take it one step further; the driver of the SUV needs prison time or at the very least an extended stay in jail.

I can't comment on plagiarism, but I agree with the rest of your post.

    Something you don't see often

I can't help but wonder if there were any IH Garands that were in South Korea arsenal. They were going to give them Back to the U.S. And would have been eligible for purchase, but the external_link administration put a stop to it. On a related note, there will be no more Mosin Nagant rifles imported...

Opinions needed: Should I make an offer on this 420-see pics

You know, I never got the whole JD vs. IH thing. It's not like Ford vs. GM. Both brands made some outstanding stuff. IH may have made more duds than the JD, especially in their later years, but the fact is that off-set cultivators were built mostly the same way for over 30 years with a lot of...

    2950 John Deere tractor

Naturally aspirated I6, I personally think that to be one of the finest tractors ever made. the 40, 50 series were awesome.

If you look at the shade of green on the front-end and compare it to the rest of the tractor they're different. I'm thinking it is possible that the front-end is not original. Best case scenario they got another front-end and put the plates on as a preemptive measure. Anyway, just a thought.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Thank you too donwisc. There is no doubt those plates are there because of a broken front axle. Seems to be a common problem in the 420's and 430's. It's too bad, this is one of the last 420's ever made. According to the serial number it was...

Opinions needed: Should I make an offer on this 420-see pics

The Super A I built had a cracked block and a bad crank. I had a an engine built that I am sure has never been done before. A 130 block, Super A head, 140 crank,140 cam, 140 flywheel, and a n entire front-end of a later model Super A. I've paid my dues. I feel like if I know I could get...

jd_adict could you tell me how you confirmed this has power steering?

Thank you jdadict, that was a very lucid, well-written and to-the-point response. I looked up the serial number and verified it was a 58. Don't know where the serial number officially broke off for the 58 420's, but I'm fairly certain this was on the tail end of the 420 run. My biggest...
