Need help finding 1/2"-18 nuts for tie-rods of old hydraulic cylinder.

Hey All, Does anyone know where I can locate 1/2"-18 nuts for tie-rods for an old hydraulic cylinder. I can find taps and dies for this old size, but no nuts. Otherwise, I will have to buy 4 new rods and nuts. Any ideas? Thanks!

Wagner Iron Works model #6 hydraulic cylinder on Ford WF3 FEL info needed

Hi All, I have a 1964 Ford 4000 4 cylinder gas tractor with a FORD WF3 Front End loader that was built by Wagner Iron Works. I am trying to disassemble the single acting lift cylinders but I'm having no luck. The plate shows that it is a Wagner Iron Works Model #6 cylinder. It IS NOT the one...

    Wagner wf3 cylinder disassembly

Hey 13fx, I have exactly the same WF3 loader with the exact same hydraulic lift cylinders as you. There is no gland nut. I removed the oil seal ( National 40410S ) and then there is a coiled snap ring. I got it out, but now I am kinda stuck. After the coiled snap ring, it appears to have a...

1964 Ford 4000 4 cyl gas vacuum reading.

Thanks used red MN! I'm sure that you are right that it probably doesn't matter. I guess I will try to move on and leave my vacuum gauge in the toolbox, but I was curious if anyone out there has had a similar experience. Does anyone see a steady vacuum reading on these updraft carburetors at...

1964 Ford 4000 4 cyl gas vacuum reading.

Hi All, I have been working on refreshing a 1964 Ford 4000 4 cyl gas ( 172 cu ) that ran but had low compression. Alot of work has been done. I have bored out the cylinders to .040 over, new pistons, rings, bearings, seals, cam shaft, cam shaft gear, turned cranked, flattened the deck, new...

Ford 4000 4 cyl gas 172 valve/ valve seat angle

Thanks All. I have reached out to the valve provider for specs on their angle. Yes Jim , I was wondering if the neway 1-5/8" 45° ( or 46° ) cutter could be used to clean up both the intake (1-5/8") and the exhaust (1-1/2") valve seats? The cutter appears to have fixed carbide pieces like a...

Ford 4000 4 cyl gas 172 valve/ valve seat angle

Thanks Mark-la! That is similar to the Ford Shop manual. Can a Neway 45° 1-5/8 cutter be used for both valve seats?

Ford 4000 4 cyl gas 172 valve/ valve seat angle

I am trying to determine the proper seat angle of the valves and valve seats for a 1964 Ford 4000 4 cylinder 172 ci gas engine. I have 2 Ford shop manuals that have contradicting information. The I&T Shop manual states that the valve face angle is 43-1/2 degrees and the seat is 45 degrees. The...

    Governor shaft fork removal

I was able to tap the roll pin with a 3mm tap. Then I threaded in a 3mm bolt and pulled the roll pin out with a slide hammer. Three or four hits and it was out. The roll pin was still reusable too.

    Ford 4000 unidentified housing hole

Thanks Guys. Mine also has power steering. The hole is molded into the casting, so it does not appear to be a user modification. I think that I will look for a 3/4 freeze plug to cap off the hole, but I thought that I would ask for what others have done. I will keep dirt and paint to plug the...

    Ford 4000 unidentified housing hole

Hello. Can anyone tell me what belongs in the hole in the side of the transmission housing? This is a 1964 Ford 4000, 4 cylinder gas tractor. It has a smooth bore and was clogged with dirt and painted over when I got it. What goes in here? Thanks!
