    That’s awesome, thanks. James

    Farmall 400 diesel pump

I have an IT manual that shows the Governor Adjusting procedure. Unless an expert here tells me otherwise, I plan to adjust the “shut-off stop screw” to give more movement in the stop direction. As is, I feel a hard stop forward (off) like this screw is hitting the housing and preventing fuel...

    Farmall 400 diesel pump

The rack moves easily with the disconnected throttle. It’s clean and no rust in this part of the pump. Maybe the next step it to adjust the limiting screw just left of your blue circle to allow the shutoff to move farther? Thanks again.

    Farmall 400 diesel pump

I have not ran the tractor on diesel. Only a few seconds on gas.

    Farmall 400 diesel pump

You are correct. Thanks for staying on track. I could probably pull start and run fine on diesel. (Unless the rack is stuck or some other problem I’m not aware of). I’ve cleaned up the gas side, but now the diesel is interfering with the gas side. When it started I had all diesel bleeder...

    Farmall 400 diesel pump

I disconnected the injector pump throttle/shutoff. It didn’t move 1/8” before bottoming out in the shutoff direction. I tied it off. I opened all the bleeders and she started for the first time, but choked out pretty quickly. Diesel is squirting across the room. I’ve got owners manual and IT...

    Farmall 400 diesel pump

Thanks for the input. This is what I was thinking my next step might be. Shut off the diesel fuel one way or another. No helpers on site, so I’ll pull the pin and tie it off. James

    Farmall 400 diesel pump

400 diesel when cranking on the gas side acts like it wants to start, but it puffs diesel smoke. Looks and sounds similar to a regular diesel cranking a little too slow to hit and go. Could something in the injector pump be stuck or broken that’s preventing fuel shutoff? Or, would it...

David Brown 1212 - 3 point will not go down

Have you searched here? Don't know how far back the search function goes, but this has been discussed before. Elmer Landman was the expert, I would search for him. There are a couple spool valves that could be stuck. I remember making a tapered oak dowel and wedging it into one of the spool...

    Super M brakes

I took my SMTA brakes apart, cleaned everything, and coarse sanded some of the metal surfaces. They do not have much bite/stopping power. I’m curious to hear from you guys who have had these brakes. If I bought new pads, would they grab well? Are the super brakes as good or better than the...

Ford 5000, 1969 model, using draft control

Any of the 3pt 3 bottom plows will work fine. Deere, IH, Case, Oliver, Moline, etc. Don't buy one needing repair or replacement of warn parts. I've pulled a 3-14 in dry sod with a row crop 5000. I had fluid, but struggled with traction (NE Kansas). I would not buy a 4 bottom unless you...

    SMTA throttle

The friction levers are sweet, but not if you want to look original. The hole/rod where the throttle lever pivots gets worn out-of-round after so many years. This allows the lever to twist and slip out of the notched plate. Haven't done it yet, but intend to remove mine, weld and re-drill...

David brown 880 hitch arms not working

Assuming this tractor is similar to a 996... Also assuming you have confirmed the draft control is in the correct position.. You might need to find a parts diagram. There are a couple spool valves near the three point lever that could be stuck (I'd tell you where, but it's been a long time)...

    Ford 5000 Questions

Probably a tractor trader. Try to look past the new paint. Maybe all good as described. I believe the '68 has the smaller engine. I'd want to see receipts for the rebuild. If true and complete, that's a large part of the value. Loader is not 'easy-off', and appears to have lots of...
