    IH 301 PISTONS

Author deereabhm 07-19-2007 15:14:03 Report to Moderator Where can I find high altitude or firecrater pistons for a International 301 engine? I am wanting to build this engine with better pistons and head work, I do not however want to stroke it. If you have built a 301 before I would...

    Header

You have any pictures of some that you built? I have a cast intake that I can bolt my #9 Stromberg onto. So I am looking at options as far as using that or having a header and intake made.

    To 20 hydraulics not working

Did any of you have the lift control cover off? I'm into one now and where the pipe comes to the top from the pump, there was a short pipe with 2 o-rings on it that fits between the casting and the top cover. The short pipe is split and I cant find another one. Thanks

    Super H Options

Anyone wanting to use 301 pistons for an H farmall better plan on adding stroke. The compression height is an inch shorter.

    YOU pick the winner........

If these are straight out of the field not veterans of the track, I would take the tractor with the 1900 pound weight advantage any day.

    Initial Tire Pressure Setting

At 7000 with 560 Farmall and BFG powersaver radials 8psi works good. But on a really hard track the firestone 23 degree radials will work better.

I don't disagree with either of you. You have valid points. It's just that the RD motor offers a far better alternative for open classes when the rpm is limited. The 301 IH motor needs the extra rpm to help. The RD motor offers a little more cost effective option. Thanks for offering up your...

Why not run the two light classes as antique? All I really want to know about is the question about the RD motors. Just a little definition on the "No repowered tractors". What do they consider repowered. I would like to know for the heavier open classes. If someone has called and asked already...

Guess I will never understand why its called an open class then. Must be a backward open class since the two light classes are limited to 38hp. Never heard of an open class with limited horse power.

Any clarification on the rules yet that you'd be willing to share? Thanks
