O/T Funny how time goes by so fast

You are about 4 months older than I am. High school class of "69, right? It seems to me that time passes faster the older I get, and that acceleration started in about 5th grade. We all are going to get as old as we get. But I hope I do not have to endure 90"s. My Mom will turn 97 next week...

    02 ford E 450 will not start

If you have not started it in a while, it is possible that the electric fuel pump needed to build up pressure before the engine would start to fire. You need to have pressure before the fuel injectors will spray right. Hope it continues to start right! Good luck!

the smells thread got me thinkin'

My Dad used Bay Rum for aftershave. It smelled OK, but I have not seen it in years. When I was a kid, I thought I needed to use some kind of aftershave, so I tried a bunch of them: English Leather, Brut, Hai Karate, and some others. But I found that the odors bothered me. So now I don"t use...

    O/T Thinking on it.......

To me a blizzard is LOTS of snow coupled with LOTS of wind. When it snows and blows at the same time around here, we get impressive drifts. Usually we don"t have too much trouble from snowstorms. If enough comes at once, I have to plow out the driveway and also plow about a quarter mile of...

    Cursive writing/ Family history

I had problems with my third grade teacher, who didn"t like me. One of the problems was with penmanship. She wanted us to write with lots of flourishes and fancy curli-cues, which seemed stupid to me. My cursive writing was and is very readable, but is much simpler and faster than what that...

    snow, rain

It is snowing right now South of Spokane, and the forecast is for more snow Thursday and Friday. However I do not expect for the snow to stick around very long, as it is not cold enough. On the other hand, the soil is still frozen down a few inches in most places. I need to put in a new water...

Today's Feature The Best Prank You Pulled

When I was in high school, one of my classmates drove a Volkswagen van. One day a bunch of us got the bright idea of pushing that VW into the school through the doors at the end of the hall. After we got it half way down the hall, we slid it sideways on the tile so it was completely...

    Update on the crud.

I had whatever it was most of November and December. Ruined the holiday season for me. I could not shake the congestion and coughing and had a low grade fever about half the time. It was the sickest I have been in years. I even took antibiotics to try to get rid of the sinus infection, which...

less gov and needin better doors....

Police get tips from people who think they have seen something suspicious going on. Then the police try to find out if there really is something illegal happening there. It is not all that easy to get a search warrant--you need lots more than suspicion. And absent exigent circumstances, the...

    O/T Faded Vehicle Headlight Lenses

Maybe they should make headlight lenses out of glass, but I doubt that they will. My guess is that the decision to use plastic is a combination of weight savings and the demand for better aerodynamics to make the government"s mileage requirements. And I suspect that the automakers can make the...

    Tire pressure sensors

Not only charge us for them, but MANDATE that we have them. Where I live, I find it advisable to equip my cars with studded snow tires during the slick season. I have read that someone with some authority has decreed that tire shops MUST require that customers have tire monitor sensors in...

    Bush Hog Ford 601 compatibility

There are times when I wish my brush hog was wider than my tractor"s rear wheels, since I have not figured out a good way to take care of edges with the 5 foot wide machine I have. Things would look better if I could get closer to fences. My 641D handles the 5 foot brush hog just fine, in...

Your best way to clean a greasy engine.

I have cleaned lots of greasy messes with diesel oil and a parts cleaning brush. It takes some work, and is fairly messy, but it will soften and remove most grease or oil that I have tried it on. If you put a drip pan underneath, to catch what flows off, you can use part of the diesel over...

    OT:Things We Did as Kids (Dad's 51 F6)

My friend Clancy"s family had a brand new 66 Fairlane when we were in high school. Sometimes Clancy got to use the car to take our group of friends to drive-in-movies. It was a nice car with a 289 and automatic. Clancy drove fast, and that didn"t worry me too much. But when he found that the...
