    2N oil line hook-up

I describe it as oddball because the tractor came to me with no oil filter housing at all, with only the oil pressure gauge connected to the engine- and the governor connected to the tapped oil relief valve. It seems to me that in the just-arrived-in-my-shop configuration the governor would only...

    2N oil line hook-up

Ya'll didn't know that ASAP means After Some Amazing Procrastination? So I'm BACK with photos of the mystery oil port located in the front of the engine. I'm starting to think it's where the oil pressure regulator valve sits, but previous owner/mechanic tapped it for a governor lubrication...

Where are all the aftermarket 2n oil bath air cleaners hiding?

..and these are the outer and inner screens that block large debris from diving down the tube into the oil bath.

Where are all the aftermarket 2n oil bath air cleaners hiding?

I cut them open to investigate. Both contain two rolls of mesh. It sort of looks like Top Ramen for robots. The under-the-hood has an additional round metal screen holding the rolls down from the top-side. I was surprised to find large "T-Pins" holding each mesh roll together. Both lower mesh...

Where are all the aftermarket 2n oil bath air cleaners hiding?

All right. I've accomplished a thing, and I'm documenting my success. The modifiction can be done, although if I could go back in time I would purchase the more expensive model that has "springingier, loopier clips" and stamped oil fill line on the cup. Why do this conversion in the first...

    2N oil line hook-up

I've got a 1947 2N tractor engine that I'm rehabilitating. It came to me without an oil filter assembly installed. (But rust stains on the engine block lead me to believe there was once an oil filter installed. Engine had 1/4-inch oil line leading out of the engine- just below, and in front of...

Where are all the aftermarket 2n oil bath air cleaners hiding?

I'm at a loss to figure out where to find an under-the-hood oil bath air cleaner assembly for my 2n. Any used parts I find online are in even worse shape than what I've got. The usual online sources offering new assemblies specifically for 9N and 8N- with this advice: This air cleaner assembly...

Mystery rear rim on my 2n

I've got a new-to-me '47 2n that I've been bringing back to life, and I've got a mystery on my hands: The left rear rim is standard OEM with six loops for 5/8 inch bolts. The right rear rim confuses me. Not the same. No loops. (See both photos of mystery right rim, but ignore the leaky seal.)...

    Confused about carb cleaning

No deep sockets would fit, but I now have a solution that worked for me. I used a bench grinder to modify a nut driver. Perhaps my Schebler casting was weird, but the gap between nozzle nut and cast iron wall was very narrow.

Trouble removing the Main Nozzle from my Marvel 9N carb

Ok. I have a solution that worked for me. None of the 3/8-inch nut drivers or sockets I found had thin enough "walls" to allow the tool to fit onto the main nozzle, so I used a bench grinder to modify a nut driver. Perhaps my Schebler casting was weird, but the gap between nozzle nut and cast...

Trouble removing the Main Nozzle from my Marvel 9N carb

I'm having trouble removing the Main Nozzle (24) from my Marvel carb. I feel like I've tried every brand of 3/8-inch nut driver and socket in existence. Does anyone know the secret tool/brand to use?

    Confused about carb cleaning

I'm having a heck of a time getting the Main Nozzle (24) out of my carb. I feel like I've tried every brand of 3/8-inch nut driver and socket in existence. Can anyone let me in on the secret tool to use?
