    MD Bolster Felt Seal

So I got all of the parts to put my Bolster shaft back together today. The question that I have on the felt seal is whether I should soak it in oil before I put it back in or put it in dry and just oil the surface that contacts the shaft. Thanks

    MD Sleeve questions

So do I have any other options besides these overbore IH sleeves? It looks like at one time Clevite may have made some. Also I am curious if I can use th 4" pistones I have as they are in great shape and they are very pricey. I can get the appropriates rings for them as I believe there are two...

    Paint for Super H

I should have given you a little more background. My son restored his first tractor and did a great job. A very nice M when he was done. It was painted entirely with Tisco. When you line it up against other restorations the color is a little more orange or at least a little less deep red. There...

    Paint for Super H

Tisco flows nice but it is not really the right color. Without custom mix go with IH 2150 from the dealer.

    MD Sleeve questions

According to the IH parts diagram online that only sleeve available for the MD is a 4" overbore. This is fine as that is what is in the block I have now. I have seen some messages saying that this sleeve does not protrude above the block.I am referring to part number 306039R1 specifically. Could...

    MD Ring End Gap

Does anyone know if using oversized rings is an option? I am kind of torn as it looks like I can do sleeves and rings for ~$800 bot over $2200 for a complete kit. I just wanted to get this old girl running just to provie I could. Now is the time to do anything major. I have had the head gasket...

Does anyone one know if using oversized rings is a possibility?

    MD Ring End Gap

That is what I thought. I just lightly hone cylinder #1 and have a end gap of over .035. I would bet that woul dnot be real good for a diesel with higher compression. What does it take to pull the sleeves on this engine? I have done them on a Super C but those were wet sleeves. Thanks

    MD Ring End Gap

I should have been more clear. I am wanting to know what would be acceptable ring end gap on a farmall MD engine? Thanks

    MD Head gasket clarification

So I spent quite along time on the phone with Chad at Carter adn Gruenwald about this gasket and here is what I found out. The 87427495 is the replacement number for 261339R92. I had him look up the 53436DE number which is the number on the gasket that I have on the TD6 block with 4" sleeves...

    MD Head gasket clarification

I have still not taken the time to figure out what the right gasket actaully is but need to in the next week, Can you tell me what you mean by full protruding liners? Also from a prior post I have heard that the gasket should sit on top of the sleeve shoulder that protrudes but the stock bore...

    MD Head gasket clarification

So I have still not yet received a firm answer on this gasket but I plan to make a few calls tomorrow. The old stuck engine that had 3-7/8" pistons had a 53436? stamped on it and it also said Mccord 6160. This gasket goes around the outside of the protruding sleeves(not on top like a super c). I...
