4020d gear reduction starter
I just changed my 24 volt positive groung system over to a 12 volt negative ground system. I purchased the kit from Abilene and I couldnt be happier. The tractor starts fantastic and I am so happy to be rid of the 24 volt system. I couldnt have done it without the assistance of 1966 4020...- Hayfarmer Frank

I dont know if its too late for you, butI just spoke with the dealer I'm purchasing my canopy/ rops from and he installs 1 1/2 inch foam, vinyl covered to which will match a cab interior. I'm actually going to be doing the same thing. What is the best way to quiet the canopy? If using sand what do you do drill a small hole at the top and pour sand in?- Hayfarmer Frank

4020 24 volt to 12 volt
It is a gear reduction starter. I'm not sure of the brand since it is still in the box. I will check it out and let you know. Right now I'm putting brakes in a 4440, and replacing a radiator and several hydraulic lines in an excavator. Tim I will give you a shout as soon as I finish these jobs...- Hayfarmer Frank

Thanks for all replies. TX that sounds easy, and very understandable. Jim I will give you a call thanks for the email. I purchased a gear driven starter (direct drive) and a 72 amp alternator. I thought this was good, but maybe not.- Hayfarmer Frank

JD440 backhoe and loader
The tractor serial number should be on the transmission. The hydraulic filter should be on the left side of the tractor underneath the cab. I"ve had it with my 4020 24 volt positive ground system. I went out and purchased a 12 volt starter, alternator, and selinoid. Does anyone have wiring diagrams for this conversion?
