    1970 Ford 4000 Gas - Carb Linkage

Hi all - I have 1970 ford 4000 gasonline. It has a new carb, and an old throttle linkage. The linkage continuously pops off. Does anyone have any recommendation on a replacement linkage? I have seen online that they have plastic ones, but I think I'd prefer the metal ones. Also, any tips and...

    Ford 4400 1969 gas - hard starting

Hi all. My tractor is finally running thanks to all of the help on here. I did a lot of upgrades this summer, plugs, wires, zenith carb, coil, and points. The tractor runs well when it runs. Maybe needs a tiny timing adjustment but she drives fine when she starts. Thats the problem, when she...

Ford 4400 - tuning after change

Is the next step timing light? When I did the replacements I did gap test the points and plugs, then installed everything at 0TDC with the points just opening. It runs, but not great. I am attaching a video from today, would appreciate any feedback Untitled URL Link

Ford 4400 - tuning after change

Hey guys - my 1970 ford 4400 3cyl gas is running again. Its been a fight. Rebuilt carb, changed coil, distributor, wires and plugs all at ounce. Wouldnt start and I tried everything. After swapping old and new parts back and forth, I went to the one thing I thought could not have been the...

Ford 4400 - carb rebuilt, replaced plugs, wires, and dis

Thanks @Used Red MN. I was checking for compression so I believe it was set setup on the right stroke. I also confirmed the bowl was full by undoing the bolt at bottom of the bowl and it refilled successfully. Will try the gas in cylinder tip next. One variance I have seen is that the...

Ford 4400 - carb rebuilt, replaced plugs, wires, and dis

Have confirmed it was cylinder #1(closest to the radiator) on compression stroke by putting my finger in the spark plug hole. Then also confirmed on the fly wheel it was at 0 degrees top dead center. Maybe it shouldnt be 0 top dead center when the points are opening?

Ford 4400 - carb rebuilt, replaced plugs, wires, and dis

I have been working on this old ford 4400. It never ran great so I slowly have been slowly chipping away at problems. This week I cleaned out the tank, fuel tap, carb, and replaced the coil, distributor, plugs and wires. Plugs and points were gapped at .025. Timing was sent O TDC and points just...

This was very helpful. Thanks for helping to educate me. I have found the timing marks and know where TDC is on the compression stroke. Planning to start out at 2 degrees BTDC. Just waiting on new plug wires and then I will give it a go. Thanks again

    Spark Plug Gap Adjustment

Yesterdays tractor and Steiner both state they sell autolite 405 plugs for this tractor with a gap spec of .025. While checking to see if I can get these same plugs at naps, oreilly, or auto advance they all see the spec is .0345. For timing purposes id prefer to just run to my local parts store...
