    Transmission inspection

Heres the part # from napa that I got. Similar to above...I used a little anaerobic sealer on the plug, tapped it in then set it with the female end of a 3/8 extension. Hitting the male end to flatten the plug a little. No pressure on it so it just needs to stay in place.

    Transmission inspection

My 8n leaked oil from the shift rail of the tranny and sherman combo after rebuild and switching to utf (red dye added) from gear oil. I had to go back and install the Welch plug and replace the combo top cover to stop the leaks. I had drive a 70 mile round trip to find the 75 cent plugs at...

    8N Governor issue?

I had a similar problem last year while rebuilding my tractor. Idle to full throttle in two clicks. After chasing the problem for a week on two tractors with 2 rebuilt carbs and opening up the governor several times I figured out the angle on the butterfly valve linkage ball was slightly...

Sherman combo shift rail oil leak questions.

Hi all. I fixed my previous tranny shift rail leak with a 3/4 Welch plug. Ran the tractor and found oil leaking from the sherman shift rail directly below it. I have another cover that I believe is the "new" style that has longer rail slides that get capped with Welch plugs. Questions....#1 has...

    8n shift rail leaking oil

It's utf with red dye. I work at a golf course and ive learned to dye clear oils. Had a guy blow a hose on a greens mower 6 years ago and continued mowing until it pumped all the oil out. Cost thousands of dollars and took a few years for that grass to be fully healthy again. Said he didn't...

    8n shift rail leaking oil

I wonder the same, after talking with my dad who bought this tractor in the early70s, he said that was the 1 spot that oil didnt leak from. not sure if the rebuild shop damaged the rail in some way? shifts through the gears ok it seems. it does leave behind a trail of oil in the bore when you...

    8n shift rail leaking oil

Hey guys, I'm trying to continue my multi year tractor rebuild. Once running I found oil dripping from tranny weep hole. Pulled steering column and found oil dripping from the shift rail. Can any body help me with thoughts on why and how to fix it with out tearing everything back apart? Tranny...

i haven't heard anything from them and I don't figure i will. I was able to file a key to fit though. It is all states ag. Customer service rep who was very nice and helpful with tracking down the root cause of my issue said she was based in Washington and the parts warehouse was in Iowa I believe.

Hi all. Just a little gripe and heads up. Purchased about $2500 in parts 2 years ago for a long term rebuild on my 8n. Just unboxed the hydraulic pump drive shaft and coupler for the loader a few days ago. Inspected and found the keyed shaft cut small on the driveshaft. Contacted YT and sent...

thanks for your opinion. I guess i should have looked everything over more closely. Thats kinda my point of this post. If i had ordered the wrong parts i would never expect any help at this point. I guess its that they admitted they sold a bad part but wont stand behind it even past the 1 year...
