Can you help with some math?

I am needing to rebuild a tractor-drawn, PTO powered Harsh 190 feed wagon into an electric motor powered stationary unit. Suppose the PTO input runs at say 250-300 rpm. The electric motor turns at 1760ish rpm and has a double groove pulley diameter of say 4.5 inches. The question is what size...

    passing in the pulling world

I didn’t know him personally but watched him pull his IH 966 for many years with, I believe, the Outlaw circuit. The long time announcer, George Hendrickson, often commented that Richard Cool was so easy going that it took him 90 minutes to watch “60 Minutes”. RIP Richard Kool.

    curious

Spent a good bit of time in front of a rotary hoe. Only been about 35 years or so. First with the JD 720 and an old jd hoe that had been converted to a three point hitch. That tractor would “pop a wheelie” like no other! Later dad picked up a jd 400 hoe. It was a four wide/six narrow and not as...

    Tachometer

I don’t believe the tach that the OP is talking about could be for a 720/730 because he mentions a five speed trans. While those two tractors had a six speed. I don’t remember the 70 that dad had when I was a kid. Was it a five speed or six speed? And didn’t the 70 tach come as an option that...

    My recent unpleasant surprise

While combining soybeans one evening a couple weeks ago I turned at the end of the row, the left side of the machine made an unnatural noise and sort of slumped to the left. Upon investigation- even in the dark- I could tell the wheel of the inside dual had separated from the bolt ring in the...

    Still earning its keep

After almost 70 years the 520 still earns its keep. I needed a tractor to put on the grain auger. Since the 4430 was a little overkill for this job, I chose the right tractor. Dad bought this tractor from the local JD dealer in the mid 70’s. At the time we needed it for the four row front mount...

    Fourth crop hay bales

I didn’t weigh any bales but it took a day for me to recover from getting them stacked in the barn! I think there were a few over 50#. Mostly 40-50 though. Thanks to all of you for your comments and memories. This has been fun. I’ll see what else I can find to post.
