    Cold weather staring of Case/IHC 685

    Don't know what engine they used in a 685, but I have a Case Ih 885 which I am sure is the same family. The tractor had 2600 hours when we bought it and now has almost 9000, it starts good if it is above 32, it has always been that way. We plug it in for about an hour before we want to use it...

    That does sound high, you can pick them up for around 500.00 usually. I think they all fit from a 706 all the way up thru the 86 series.

    TCH vs Hydtran Ultra

    Case Nutty what do you think about using Hytran Ultra in an 1150E Case crawler. I have always used the TCH in it, but since it is the only thing that uses it I buy it in 5gal buckets, and I buy Hytran in bulk, so it would be much cheaper to change over.

    On the right side of the cab down on the floor by the electric panel there is a plate that can be removed. You need to pull the floor mat up to see it.

    706 tie rod end removal?

    Put a portapower between the ends of the tie rod and push, then heat the pipe with a torch. That has worked the best for me.

    Just grind the key off of the clamp and use it.

    That looks like a very nice 1456, 9000.00 seems a little on the light side price wise. I would like to find a nice 1971 model 1456, but wouldn't want the long axels. Thanks for putting on all of the pictures you do, they are always very interesting to see.

    Look at the casting dates on the major castings, they should end in D for 1958.

    I like the WK-40 on the other side of the F-12.
