    Fan belt change - Hyd pump removal required?

    On a Case 450 Crawler is it necessary to remove the hydraulic pump to replace the fan belt or if the coupling bolts are removed will the coupling slide on the spline far enough the get the belt between the crank shaft pulley and pump?

    Air filter is good (paper canister). I changed oil about 55 hours ago. I'm using Rotella 30 wt. Previous owner used Delo 400 30 wt. but I could not find that brand so I switched to Rotella. He changed oil every 100 hours and had it for 39 yrs.

    Case 450 Crawler oil consumption

    I have a Case 450 crawler with 188 cid diesel built around 1971. It uses a qt. of oil every 15 - 20 hours. It starts and runs fine and has about 1000 hours on the last engine rebuild. I this high or typical for this engine?

    Screw inside injector pump backed out and head sheared off. This sheared drive gear key. I guess is was a coincidence that it happened at start up. Had pump rebuilt and replaced key.     Case tool #A43277 (Cleaning injector bore)

    Manual calls for Case tool # A43277 for cleaning injector bore before installing injector. It looks like a typical reaming tool. If a standard ream can be used what size is it? The engine is a 188 in a Case 450 Crawler / loader built in 1971. Thanks, David

    Case 450 track loader won't start

    I removed the pump and key was sheared. Pump would only rotate 1/4 turn. I'm waiting on a quote to rebuild it.

    I checked for pump rotation again today with better light and the fuel return valve closed so fuel was not running out of the timing mark cover. The pump is not turning so it must be a sheared shaft?

    I removed the top of the injector pump and when the cable is pulled / pushed the mechanism inside appears to slide freely. I've only owned the 450 for 4 weeks but it has always started very quickly.
