    Spark plug tester

I find it is some times hard to see the spark jump in a well lighted room, outside in sunshine etc. Especially, when one is trying to pull a rope, focus on the tester, while not falling down. Might dim the lights, wait until dusk and see if there is spark.

Made a Coat Rack from IH Truck Parts & Plow Bolts

Leave the valve cover as is and use a knob/button whatever on the keys. The knob/button would have groove that slides into the valve cover. If nothing else make the knob out of a 1/2" x 1" long bar of alum. or brass. Nice job, I would have never thunk it.

    Battery Powered Sprayer

I have a JACTO 2 gal, they also make a 4 gal, or did some 5 years ago when I bought mine. The battery is built in with a separate charger. The switch and charging port is sealed so getting the sprayer wet is not a problem. I have never run the battery dead, it will spray 3+ tanks with out...

    String trimmers with solid shafts

I have have had good luck with Husqvarna. I have three of their chainsaws. I recently purchased a String trimmer but have not used it to date. Looking at their brochure they make a model 122XL Brushcutter; "easily clears high grass and brushwood. It is a straight shaft however does not state...

Keeping nuts tight in vibration areas

In order for the nut to loosen there has to be movement between the gear and the camshaft. If there is no movement then the nut will not loosen. I am thinking (guessing) the gear is located on the the camshaft by a key way or maybe it is a splined connection. If there is wear on these parts...

    2020 Dodge Ram Bighorn w/Hemi 5.7L - Question

Thank you for taking the time to post. I had no clue there was such a system. I wonder if we will ever see a similar system on large over the road trucks to move them away from a stop light, capture braking energy etc. Again, thanks and a big thumps up. Ken

Restoring my families Ford 535 Backhoe

Nice job. There is a song that with the line: "digging up bones". I believe it refers to bringing back long ago memories. Just a suggestion for you to consider.

    Head bolts

The clamping force of the head bolts properly torqued should exceed the combustion force acting to lift the head off the block. Since the head does not lift off the block, the bolts do not see additional loading as a result of combustion pressure. Therefore, there is no fatigue to cause...

    Chainsaw

I had a cracked coil on a lawn boy mower that prevented it from starting. The spark looked fine with the spark plug removed from the engine. I found the problem by removing the various body work, allowing me a clear view to see the coil, plug wire etc. That evening with the lights out in the...

    pulling stumps?

I cut trees out of a fence row a few years back. I am tired of mowing around the stumps: time to get them out of the way. I have a 8-N and a 4000 Ford however, it is my experience it takes a large tractor to be effective. My plan is to burn them to ground level or below. To that end; I use a...

    It was Inevitable

I have a suggestion: If you mount the toilet paper holder lower to the floor, the cat can get a sheet without damaging the entire roll. Sorry, I could not resist.....

Prepping a gas tank for welding

CO2 should work as purge gas. Also, I have heard of adding dry ice pellets (CO2 in solid form) to the tank. Make sure the dry ice is present during the entire welding process. Good Luck

    Adding air to a tire.

Dad never owned an air pump, only the tire pump kit shown above. When we put the adaptor in one spark plug hole of the mighty 8N, the tractor was driven to every nearby implement that may have needed air. Once every thing was aired up the 8N went to the field to work.

Still a spot for an 8N on a big farm?

Dad had 80 acres and a 1951 8N was the only tractor. When my brother and I got old enough to operate it we took turns driving/keeping it in the field, working from "can to can't" (can see in the morning to can't see in the evening).
