    Generator Shaft Repair

I thought about that but when I measured it, not only is it worn down, but it's also slightly tapered from the wear. I don't imagine a sleeve would work unless it was machined straight. The shaft is worn down as far as 0.035" under size at the worst spot.

    Generator Shaft Repair

Any ideas on who/how to fix a worn rotor shaft from a Honda 5000w generator? I just went through and freshened up the engine and fixed up some gremlins it had so it's running great now. The problem is the rotor shaft is worn down to where there is some space between it and the bearing it rides...

    Tony Mass

Very sad to hear this. He was always helpful and kept things light. Spoke with him on the phone a few times and emailed back and forth quite a bit. Always meant to attend a show and meet him in person but one way and another that never worked out. RIP Tony.

    MF 135 pipe ripper layer

Is it simply being pushed up, out of the ground or is the draft control causing it to lift the implement up? If it's the draft control, and you attach to the rop bar, you may end up causing some damage.

    MF202 Strange thing

The foot throttle is nice for some things but I would rather use the hand throttle for most things. As noted, a little tap here and there on the left or right brake can help you in numerous situations. Before I did my power steering conversion I couldn't steer without the brakes!

    Good advice, thank you!

    Question for Glennster

How would one know if it's good primer or not, or good quality parts for that matter?

    Question for Glennster

The adhesives thread got me thinking about a repair I did to my son's truck a couple years ago. It is a 2001 Silverado reg. cab and I replaced the inner and outer rockers and cab corners. I hit the entire repair area, inside and out with Fluid Film to try and prevent rust. Doing some work on...

    202 stability with Backhoe attached

Definitely a bit of a learning curve but you will appreciate the extra traction offered by all that weight. I'm on relatively flat ground here so it's not a big issue but I can see where larger slopes would be a concern. Something in the bucket will go a long way toward keeping in control. On...

    MF50 Unknown Ignition Shutdown

With the tractor not running, I believe you should be able to move the throttle past idle position and you should be able to move the linkage fairly easily, almost to the point of it feeling floppy. If it's tight and binding, it will not work properly. Instead of doing the adjustment, I would...

    Davis 185 Backhoe Project

My backhoe was operational when I got it but I have still had to put much work into it. If you can get the spool valves freed up then at least you can evaluate the rest of the system. I ended up rebuilding all the spool valves with a new old stock kit I was lucky enough to find online. The parts...

    Davis 185 Backhoe Project

Since repairing these these things can get expensive quickly, I've started just replacing what breaks and leaving the rest. I know that's not acceptable to some people, and I used to think that way as well, but I figure I'm almost to the point where I could have purchased something newer and had...

    Z-134 Running Rough

So you've gone through the ignition system, replaced the distributor, plugs are clean, good spark etc. You have also removed the carburetor, cleaned it and installed a rebuild kit. Are you able to identify possibly one cylinder that is causing you issues by removing one plug wire at a time...

    Z-134 Running Rough

There have been times with different carbs that I've had to take them apart more than once to get all the crud out of them. Last Z134 carb I rebuilt sat in carb cleaner for about a week until I got back to it. Never had issues with that one after rebuild!

    Z-134 Running Rough

Other than it running rough, any change in the color of the exhaust? Does partially closing the choke have any impact on how it runs?
