IH 656 Running Poorly When Warm

Some part of that system ended up being the issue - swapped out the rotor, coil and condensor and the issue has gone away. Thanks for the help!

IH 656 Running Poorly When Warm

Got it, thanks guys. I'm going to check the gas flow next time I'm at the tractor later this week, but I also went ahead and bought an ignition tune-up kit (includes condensor) and a coil. For $40 shipped it's easiest to just hit the likely problems. If it's not that or the points, or the...

IH 656 Running Poorly When Warm

Just tested this, and the coil is hot but not so hot that I can't hold my hand on it indefinitely, so that doesn't seem like what you're describing. I can bring the revs back up by working the choke a bit when it's dying, so that may point to a fuel issue of some sort? I also noticed that...

IH 656 Running Poorly When Warm

Hey all - I have a new to me '67 IH 656 that's having issues running after it warms up. Tractor has a gas engine, some blow-by/oil burning (but not excessive) and starts up and runs initially great. After running for 30-45 minutes however I lose all power, can't rev up the engine, and it...

Ford 4500 - What to watch for?

Yes PTO, and I confirmed it has the manual transmission w/ 3 forward, 1 reverse + hi/lo.

Ford 4500 - What to watch for?

This one has the 3 cylinder diesel, so that would point to it being a later model, and probably just painted at some point, correct?

Ford 4500 - What to watch for?

One other question - These fenders and ford blue on an industrial tractor both seem uncommon, were those original options?

Ford 4500 - What to watch for?

Thanks for the tips on things to watch for! With regards to complexity - I also own and maintain a '57 Case Terratrac Dozer and a '92 Hitachi EX200 excavator, so I'm not getting in over my head here. I'm just not familiar with this model specifically.

Ford 4500 - What to watch for?

I'm going to look at a Ford 4500 this weekend as a replacement for my 8n that will hopefully be more hill-friendly, utilitarian, and able to properly run my sawmill. I'm comfortable broadly with old tractors and what to look for when inspecting, but I'm hoping for any specific input on 4000...

Case Terratrac Dozer - What can you tell me?

Steve - Do you mind if I reach out and pick your brain on these machines a bit? If you don't mind, what's the best way to reach you?

Case Terratrac Dozer - What can you tell me?

Thanks Steve - do you have any good references for specs / info / service on these machines?

Case Terratrac Dozer - What can you tell me?

Afternoon all - I got a good deal on and picked up a non-running 1950's Terratrac dozer. I don't know much about it but the price was right so even if I can't get it running I'm not out much. I'm looking for help identifying the exact model, it's specs, and any input on common issues. I...

    Help Evaluating '74 Cat 951c

On a related note - does anyone know if there's free as in beer copy of the service manual for these machines floating around, or is buying it the only option? I have a copy of the parts manual but haven't seen any non-paywall copies of the service manual.

    Help Evaluating '74 Cat 951c

Ok, went out and ran the machine again today for close to an hour. I'm more comfortable that I was after the first visit, and I have a strong suspicion that the shifting issue is linkage related. Here's what I found - No issues in first at all, and will spin the tracks in place when I pushed...
