    Ford 800 Reproduction Distributor

    Has anyone bought a new Ford 800 distributor and had issues with it advancing too slow? I had one on a distributor tester and I was only getting 5-6 degrees advance at a distributor rpm of 1000.

    If you have a Ford 8N with a 6 cylinder funk conversion and braces along side the oil can can you swap in a v8? I don't know if there were and differences between a 6 cylinder and v8 kit.

    Oliver 88 distributor increasing mechanical advance

    A 77 and 88 have 10 degrees at the distributor and 20 degrees at the flywheel. A super 55 has 15 degrees at the distributor and 30 degrees at the flywheel.

    Has anyone put the mechanical advance from a different distributor into an Oliver 77 or 88 to make it advance like a Super 55?

    Will a pipe that fits the culivator holes on a 77 fit an 88? I know the frame is wider on an 88, but I'm not sure about the culivator holes.

    I have made something similar for one cylinder except I made it all out of steel. I have also welded two rods together to represent the longer rod. At a 5" stroke a reinforcement rib inside the block needs to be notched and the cam needs to be notched. No windows are required.

    It seems even with a short compression height piston there is still an issue. I don't know that you can let the sleeves hang down in the block like the factory wet sleeves do to get a longer cylinder. Not only is the sleeve thin and unsupported with a 4.375" piston, at some point it will hit...

    I have been wonder for some time a detail of an Oliver 88 with a 5 inch stroke. How close is the center of the piston pin to the bottom edge of the sleeve?
