    fluids

i have a 1958 ford 801 power master, 4-cyl gas, 4-speed manual, with pto and lift arms, the rear axle, the hydralics, and the transmission all have separate oil chambers, what fluids do i use for each one? on my 8n its all one oil as they flow freely between the three, but not the 801.

    Seized 8n update

Set in neutral, used a breaker bar and socket to the front bolt on the crank, see if it will turn, if it feels like your just tightening the bolt, it’s most likely seized up, barring starter isn’t seized.just went through this with mine, was rusted up and seized. Rebuilt it too to bottom.

    sTUMPED

On my 58, I had this problem, turned out it was the intake manifold, it was not sealing and creating the vacumn needed To start the engine, had fuel, had spark but no spark, tried leveling the manifold, tried double gasket it, finally just bought a new one, no more problems after that.

    8n rebuild trouble

Not sure I understand, will it start and run, or not, if it doesn?t run at all, the last rebuild I did,I?m had replace the intake/exhaust manifold, turns out it wasn?t creating the vacuum needed to allow the gas to get to the cylinders, I had to put the original back on to get it to run, after...

If it's on the tranny, could be a Sherman step up.

    Ford 801 gas

If I squirt miracle oil,in the cylinders, it will run fo about 30 seconds, I as told that it requires 90'psi to run, so it has close to that until the oil burns out.

    Learned a new trick

This old dog learned a new trick today, I have several 8n's I use for dragging roads and etc, and there has been a few times they have broken down on the road pulling a box or straight blade, and of course by the time I get back with a truck the 3 point gas fallen all the way down, I used to...

    Ford 801 gas

I have a 1958 Ford 801 gas, started running rough from time to time, until one day it just quit, no smoke, no rattling, just as if you turned off the key. I checked spark, was god, I checked fuel was good, I decided to do a compression check and got the following readings. Dry test cylinder 1 82...

    801 compression

Thankyou, that's what I was thinking, but I needed a second opinion , my tractor guru and friend passed in January , he was always my 2 nd opinion before. Well I guess it's time to do a ring job.

    Post-Rebuild Troubleshooting

My last completed rebuild was in October , couldn't get that baby to start for nothing, turned out the new exhaust/ intake manifold wasn't sealing even when I double gasket it to the motor, and wasn't creating the up draft necessary for the gas to get into the cylinders, ending up putting the...

    801 compression

    52 8n lift arms

Thanks for all the suggestions, might add the rod I push feels stiff, I think the control rod is pushing it, but doesn't seem to be able to push it back, once I do it with my hand, it works for quite awhile, like I said has done it twice in 3 months. The pumps was completely rebuilt, used the...
