Dan, I tried two different Deutz dealers here in NY and got the same answer from both (discontinued/unavailable). That said, we are just across the creek from Prescott, Ontario, maybe I'll find a dealer over on your side that can get them. I have welded many a cast needle but not equipped to...- jaoneill

Thanks, I'll do a search down that way. Any of the dealers up this way hit a "discontinued" roadblock. I found a supplier in Germany that has them but won't ship to the US. I heard that when Kubota bought out Kneverland (who was actually the manufacturer), they discontinued all parts prior to...- jaoneill

Bale spear
I have handled tens of thousands of bales and have never broken a spear. My neighbor regularly bends his cheapo tractor supply spears but I suppose that is to be expected.- jaoneill

OT Barn siding
Steel would be my material of choice; we sided an old dairy barn with colored steel roofing 51 years ago and it still looks good. Vinyl is short lived (20-30 years), aluminum tends not to hold a finish, and any of the newer "composite" sidings each have their own issues. -
