    The old governor hadn't worked correctly for a long time either. The pins that hold spring are worn so they don't hold the spring properly and the shaft is loose in the housing. For me I thought it would be easier and quicker to just replace it with a new one. So far that hasn't worked out so...

    I found an appropriate pin to connect the yoke to the shaft in the governor. I did the spin test as suggested, the arm did move back as it is supposed to, but after installing it on the tractor in still doesn't work. So now what?

    I got impatient and took the governor apart. The yoke is not connected to the shaft inside the governor. The rivet that holds the yoke to the shaft is missing. Without that rivet what can I use to connect the yoke?

    I just put a new governor on the 2N. It doesn't seem to work. I have preformed the test of pulling on the throttle linkage with the motor running. The governor does not fight the throttle. It does nothing. Also it won't slow idle. Any help is much appreciated.

    Let's just for argument sake believe the hours are correct and the engine hasn't been rebuilt and it's received regular maintenance. How many hours is reasonable to expect. Is 5300 hours a lot of hours on an 860 or should it go much more.

    Thanks for all the replies. The main reason was the input shaft seal was leaking real bad, and I really have no need of it. I tried using the tractor in 1st high range and it"s just too fast for the field work I have. It seemed like 1st gear with the Sherman in high range was faster than 2nd...

    52 8n will not even cough

    Have you done anything to verify that gasoline is getting to the carb? Remove the plug from the bottom of the carb. You should see a good flow of gas.

    Jubilee Main Bearings

    My Jubilee has very low oil pressure when the engine is warm and not that good when cold (30-35 lbs). I"ve been told the main bearings are probably the cause. How difficult is it to roll out the upper half of the bearing if I decide to tackle this?
