Ford jubilee im at my end of trying

Must have spark, fuel and compression. Seems like you have the first two. As others have stated, may have a dead cylinder(S). Only other thing I can think of is that you still don't have the firing order correct. Even if it was a low compression engine, it would seem like it would try to...

    Ford 860 Hood Removal

Try these...I used them to remove some rounded off drain plugs recently. I had to lightly hammer a socket that was just a bit too snug for the rounded off head to get it to grab. Once it bit, it spun right off...

Ford 851 - which fluids to drain when pulling pto shaft

I'm replacing my pto shaft, and I've read conflicting instructions on draining fluids. I'm not keen on parking it downhill and not draining fluids. Is draining the rear differential 80-90w oil and the hydraulic tank - but not the transmissions correct or do I have to drain all 3? Thanks!

Ford 850 Leaking Radiator - how to test while on tractor

And you believe that a modern test kit will include a cap that fits for a 1954 tractor? If so, that's great. I'm just a little surprised if that is the case.

Ford 850 Leaking Radiator - how to test while on tractor

Thank you Jim. I did see those, and it looks like most include a selection of various caps for most common auto brands. I was concerned the selection would not include a low pressure cap for a 1954 tractor. I'll look into it though.

Ford 850 Leaking Radiator - how to test while on tractor

Have an 850 with radiator leak and want to identify where leak is before I pull radiator - the previous owner welded some of the sheetmetal into one unit so pita to pull it all off. How can I pressure up the cooling system without running tractor so I can crawl around under it to maybe find...

Ford 850 Steering Box Gear Shaft - Difficulty w/ part #

My left side sector gear shaft has broken off the wings at the end of the shaft where the adjustment screw would move the shaft in/out to take up slack. When I look up this part, it is 8N-3526B. That is sold through many places (including YT) as a shaft with a 5 tooth gear. Mine has 7...

Ford 850 Steering Box Repair Help

Thanks for the input guys. Found a new Ford box for $375 and decided to go that route for now. Lowest regular price I saw otherwise was $600, so this seems a pretty good deal. I will fix the old one when time allows and sell to recoup some of my cost. I'm guessing fixed and repainted it would...

Ford 850 Steering Box Repair Help

Thanks Dog. Tin is loose. Wheel is off. I was just hoping for easier. The whole setting timing on the sector gears reads confusing and if a top bearing puts me back in action then I'd hit the Easy Button and be done with it.

Ford 850 Steering Box Repair Help

Steering turns right but wheel just spins and walks up the shaft when turning left. From all I have read, this is indicative of top bearing failure. I've seen very detailed instructions on how to rebuild completely and also have the manual. I would like to know if there is an easy way to...

Ford 850 - Front Crank Seal Weeping and PTO Seal Questions

Thanks souNdguy. I tend to like to fix things that don't always need fixin. When I realized the job it would be to change that seal, I was hoping someone would keep me from it. Whew.... Got another one for you... I hooked up my Proofmeter and stainless cable...there is a drive bolt in my...

Ford 850 - Front Crank Seal Weeping and PTO Seal Questions

My front seal (behind pulley) is leaking oil very slightly. If I run the tractor for about 5 minutes, there is a light film of oil under the pulley and several drops that land on the front steering assembly. It is not pouring...just weeping. This tractor is going to be a worker, so I am...

    Howse Gearbox Replacement

I am looking at an older Howse cutter that needs a new gearbox. I see aftermarket replacement gearboxes for around $150. Are the a pretty simple swap vs tearing about an old gearbox to replace seals and bearings?

Ford 850 - Leaky PTO Shaft After New Seal

I measure my pto shaft at 1-3/8 OD to the outside of the splines. However, the circlip that is sold here on YT as the replacement parts to lock the bearing in place is too large for my housing. I had to re-use my old circlip. Something seems odd here. Any ideas?

Ford 850 - Leaky PTO Shaft After New Seal

It looks like this sleeve is press fit on the shaft. I assume that means heat to be able to remove and replace a new one. Correct?
