    I would say without the serial number you'll never be able to determine the year.

    Bush Hog Cutting Height?

    Depends on the machine and the terrain. 3 1/2 to 4/12. Set the cylinder collars high enough so you don't scalp off spots and you don't have to worry about it.

    4010 24V SYSTEM

    The factory did not offer a cab on a 4010. Any cab on a 4010 is a gypsy aftermarket contraption. If your cheap and lazy and your 24 volt system is working, you may not need to switch to 12 volt.

    Is it an annual or perennial? In the past I've used 2% Roundup per gallon on tough weeds with good success. If it's a perennial, now is the time to apply the herbie because the weed takes it down into the roots.

    3010 tach

    Most likely a defective tachometer. There are guys out there who rebuild them or new ones are available. While you're at it, replace the drive cable.

    1974 JD 310-D backhoe Forward-Reverse problem

    Have you changed the hydraulic oil and filter? Checked oil pressure at reverser valve and/or trans port? Reverser control valve may have a sticking plunger or compromised spring.

    Always wanted one of these to replace my Gator. :) As I remember, 2-cycle. There's probably a service and parts manual out there somewhere. Think chainsaw engine, - only bigger. Might be something simple like a reed valve or the like. There is a following out there for these french fries...

    It depends on what you expect from a paint job. Do you want it to be super durable show job or do you just want a good look and it's a work tractor. You can save a lot of money and still do a good job with high-end Rust-Oleum or one of the better high quality enamels sold by most dealers...

    new Zero turn mower choices

    Every manufacturer is chasing two markets: homeowners and landscaper/mow & throw. I bought my second Toro three years ago and went for the "industrial strength" model because on our farm, we mow about two acres every 10 days. The Toro works for me.

    JD 3020D 24v problem

    It could be a generator or regulator problem. Do you have the tech manual with the electrical schmatic? Remove wires one by one from the regulator and generator and see if the gen light turns off when the key is off.

    A couple of sources for manuals: Contact Jensales. They have some Hyster manuals and do a lot of ag tractors and industrial. As I remember I got a reprint of the qn-20 parts and service manual directly from Hyster. Now this was 20 years ago but it's worth a shot if you talk to the right person...
