    John Deere combine experts needed

I agree with mike. Ran a 6620 T 2 for many years. More wind. Even the book settings are low on fan speed settings.

Had a great day of plowing with the 630

I grew up running a 730 D wide front with 4 14 plow. Had to stand to see over the hood. Thought I was king of the world when I ran that machine at 12 yrs old. Glad you still have yours.

    1010RS

I would be happy with gas, easy to maintain. Is there big diff between dash shift and floor shift?

    1010RS

Ok school me. I have all green tractors, always have always will. Grew up running 730 diesel but love the new gen series. Have both 70 4020 and 72 4000. The 4000 has been on this farm since 74, second owners. I would like to have a 1010RS to play with. Maybe do a little plowing at plow days...

    Fine Tuning JD3300

It will do a lot better job at 14% than it will at 20. Even with fan at max if sieves are too far open you will get chaff. Are the hulls thrashed or still have grain in them? How fast are you going? Can you keep cylinder full? It will thrash better if you can keep cyl full. It all has an impact...

    biased opinion/ethanol

I have a lot less problems with 2 stroke carbs and fuel systems now compared to 20 yrs ago. Fuel stabilizer is reqd for storage but that was the case yrs ago as well. My 2 stroke outboards are fine as was said the oil acts as a stabilizer. We put thousands of miles each winter on 2 stroke...

    biased opinion/ethanol

I agree Mike. I grow corn and have previous refinery experience. The ethanol is an additive that makes gas burn cleaner and replaces older more harmful additives that were used in the past. There is lots of propaganda about the pros and cons of ethanol but my bet is it is here to stay. The fuel...

    1780 vac planter

i had a 1780 vac and traded it on kinze 3600 edge vac. loved the 1780 hated the kinze. very low oil flow reqd for the 1780 as was stated even older tractors will run them. considering going back to 1780 but have not decided. only way trash flow would be a problem is if had trash wipers on all...

Need some specs and advice on some deere tractors.

Wow that is quite a sight. Good luck. 30 ft no till drill in steep hills you will need more than a 4455. I would think 200 hp mfwd minimum.

    4240

I had one quite a few years ago, good tractor. If mostly haying and light field work should be fine. I did not like it as much as a 44 due to no turbo. Made big difference. That being said I mostly planted with the 42 and it was great for that. Good luck.

Wow! So I have to ask, whats good about these cabs. I took off a yr round cab that I spent many hours in over the years. Just curious?

    4000 J D

This has been hashed over many times. I have late 4000 with diff lock. Think it was an option as well. 4000 was side console only, 69-72. If it is cheap buy it, differences are not substantial. Main one is 3 1/8 axle vs 3 3/8 on 4020.

    old tractors vs new tractors

I have 5 tractors of the 20 and 30 series. All good tractors. Also have 3 new tractors. The new ones likely won't be here past 5-7 yrs. Issues with electronics and emissions will be the reason. Trade for new and buy extended warranty the plan. Some of my old ones will always be here, kind of...

    4020 cab

I took a year round off late model 4020 that was in very good shape. Got 450 for it. Dealer new of someone looking for one and put me onto the guy. Spent a lot of time in those cabs as a teen. Loud noisy cab with radio blaring and hot as well. I am sure some of my hearing loss comes from those...
