    JD 4020

    Be sure to check the front end real good and check and see if it had a loader on it, loaders are real hard on em. Thats about the weakest part on my late model 4020.

    Opinions on Hobart welders.

    if your wanting a 110v get the biggest one i think its a 140 amp thats what i have, throw that 1 pound of wire that comes w/ the welder away and buy a quality 10pound spool "will feed and weld much better" but it will only handle up to about 5/16 or 1/4 though. I love mine for fixing...

    Cordless drill

    Well I fianially pulled the trigger and bought a Bosch 36 volt. Thats the brand we have at work and I am verry inpressed with them. I bought it through amazon for 200$. Brand new not refurbished with 2 batteries. here is a link if you guys want one too. thanks for the help...

    Hey thanks for the info i'll keep this in mind. I like the looks of the makita drill, guess I didn't even know they made one, i've had a makita angle grinder for 10 or more years and that thing wont die. Maby their drills are just as stout.

    404, 414, 466 engines

    I have a 71 4020 with a 404 has 10700 hrs never been rebuilt, uses maby 1qt of oil between oil changes. Also habe a 80 4240 with a 466 and a m&w turbo. 7000 hrs uses no oil never been overhauled. IMO the two best motors deere ever made. they are almost bulletproof with good care...

    4230 good, bad or other

    I Have a 4240 with a M&W turbo and it's great. Just remember to change the extra oil filter when you do the oil. My dealer keeps them in stock. I've also seen them in the shoup catalog.
