    68 Ford 2000 vs Massey Ferg 65

Check the bearings in the planetaries (wiggle back wheel at the top side to side). They can get expensive to repair. Also, brakes are difficult to get to (remove axle trumpets) but all in all, a fairly solid tractor model.

Don, are you gonna bring it down to Forest city this weekend?

    massey 65 gas/diesel

There's been one on craigslist around Iowa recently (maybe Missouri or Minnesota, not 100% sure) but the ad says g176 so you can search by that.

Does not look like I will make the Massey Show.

I'll be around Sunday; maybe I'm biased but it seems like that show doesn't dry up on Sunday quite like others do. There'll be a tractor pull in the afternoon, so that'll keep people around, along with demonstrations. I was looking forward to seeing the MH 44 EFI there.

    Massey 356 loader tractor

I should also mention the drive wheels and differential setup are basically the tail of a MF 65, as in I don't EVER want to work on the brakes. I also have a thirsty hydraulic system, she marks her territory for sure. Also seems a bit thirsty on gas, but no more hours than I've really used it...

    Massey 356 loader tractor

I have a gas model (continental G193 or something like that); bit of an odd duck engine, but boy can it lift. Before I got it someone put a 3 stage mast on instead of a bucket (1000 lbs?) and a weight box on the back. I have a fair amount of weight back there beyond stock (500 lbs?) and to my...

    65 massey ferguson brakes

The other thing that happens is an axle seal can leak, then oiling the brake discs. That'll cause weak brakes and you need to take it apart to repair or replace. Brake work on a 65 requires removing the wheel and axle trumpet which has a planetary gearbox on the end. I didn't have a lifting...

    65 final drives

I'm not much help either, but when I did mine I happened to have a 75 ton Dake press that we bought a couple months earlier. Made that project go from nasty to just challenging. Took quite a bit of force; was concerned about breaking the castings. As my dad said after we got it in the shop...

    Iowa Massey Collectors Summer show

I've been to this show in the past. It's a nice location and typically they have a nice variety of things to see and do. I'm taking my Massey Ferguson collection this year and I saw Wayne going back and forth with his trailer the past couple of evenings hauling too.

    730 CK Hydraulic troubleshooting

SUCCESS! I cleaned the main relief valve, and also cleaned the aux pilot valve (#12 below) and between the two got things working again. Out of curiosity, #5 in this diagram is a small pipe plug. There's one top and bottom, and maybe a couple on the back. Are these construction holes, or...

    730 CK Hydraulic troubleshooting

Holy cow! I just looked up what Messick's wants for that little strainer: $71!!! I haven't checked a dealership (nothing open at the moment) but I'm open to sourcing suggestions! By the why, what is that strainer straining? It seems to me that it's on the back side of the piston, where...

    730 CK Hydraulic troubleshooting

NEW INFORMATION So, I established that I have reasonable flow, but minimal pressure. I hooked up a hose to one remote, put it in a bucket and in fairly short order, I had the bucket half full. I believe the spec is somewhere around 12GPM, which I'm probably in the neighborhood of (at low...

    730 CK Hydraulic troubleshooting

Is that #4 in this diagram (below)? Looks like I'd have to pull at least the seat and valve body to get at that, right? And thank you for the suggestions, I understand wrenching through a screen can be difficult, hence all of the details. I plan to go home tonight with these new ideas and...

    730 CK Hydraulic troubleshooting

Thank you - I've found several reliefs in the parts diagram: can you help direct me to the main relief? I can see what I believe are ones under the auxiliary/remote valve body, but I don't think I can get to those without pulling the valve body. As for the quad ring, item #3, it is in place...

Here's a hopefully better diagram for discussion purposes. I think the item numbers are a little more clear. Thank you again!
