    Yeah, the ribbeted on name plate doesn't seem to go with an antique wood beam plow and the malboard looks small also.

    I have a1972 4000. It will not consistently shift into 7th and 8th gears. All other gears work fine. When you release the clutch there is no grinding, it is just like it is not in gear.     I purchased a 1972 4000 with 11k hours last fall. I have been working on the wiring. When someone replaced the alternator, they cut off the O-4 and PU-3 wires that attach to the alternator. These wires both run to the light on the dash. I am not sure which wire connects to which spade on it or...

    Put antifreeze in, did not see any bubbles. However did find radiator leak, which accounts for coolant loss. Does it when throttling up and down. More of a blue smoke. Could it just be because of too much oil in the crankcase? I believe it lessened as the tractor warmed up.

    Took a look again yesterday at the 4230. At start up there was white smoke from the exhaust. It thinned out as tractor warmed up, but still noticeable. With temperature gauge up to operating temp, you could still see it. Also when you idle it down, the white smoke got heavier for a moment...
