    Kohler K341

Thank you for the information. I am painfully aware that it needs a K341 Kohler. The problem is they are apparently on the same shelf as hen's teeth.

    Kohler K341

The shafts Kohler once sold probably fit the engines they once sold, the operative word being once, as in NLA. My problem is no engine - nothing under the hood. I'm learning far more than I ever wanted to know about this little tractor - what an adventure! So far I've not been able to discover...

    Kohler K341

Thanks for the lead. That stub shaft is probably just what I need, IF I could find the K342/321 engine it fits. I guess I'm working from both directions on this project: Find an engine then a shaft to fit, or find a shaft and then an engine it fits. I'm discovering why this MF1650 has been...

    Kohler K341

Think about it: An electric clutch without a way to turn it is just a hunk of iron. I have seen a running MF1650 with a K341 Kohler engine. The engine PTO drives the mower attachment via an electric clutch. The tractor is driven off the flywheel end with a stub shaft.

Opinions on hobby use benchtop milling machines?

I bought a Grizzly G 0754 almost 3 years ago. I found it to be excellent quality, and it does everything I ask of it. Two horsepower single phase, gear drive, and a power drive table. Sometimes I wish I'd added a DRO, but it just takes a little more time without it. I have several Grizzly tools...

    TO-20 Hupp Transmission

My TO-20 has a single speed drop-down Hupp, cable controlled. I'm getting some leakage from the front of the transmission, and want to replace whatever seal is in there. I've not yet figured how to remove the cable from the Hupp, but my biggest concern is the can of worms once I remove the Hupp...

TO 35 Broken starter motor nose cone

A broken nose cone is usually caused by not letting the starter stop completely before trying again. Also, if you hit the starter when the engine is rocking back from a non-start. When I worked at a Massey dealer in the "60s, we kept a few noses in stock for the diesel starters. I still...

    To-20 6v starter

The biggest problem we had with MF starters when I worked at an MF dealer was people not letting the starter STOP or the engine STOP kicking back before trying to start it again. Not waiting that extra second can break the drive, bend the shaft, or break the end housing.

    135 remote hyd

I have an original single spool valve I took off my MF-135. It replaces that little cover under the front center of the seat. The lever sticks up between your legs. It works great - however: it will only push fluid to the new cylinder after the 3-point is at the top. I replaced it with a...

starting fluid damage on 165 diesel?

You likely broke some rings. You must ONLY use premium diesel type starting fluid. The cheaper stuff explodes rather than burns, breaking the top rings. It"s a sad lesson many learn too late. DO NOT buy cheap starting fluid for diesel engines!

mf135 leaking top of steerlng box column tube

My 135 leaked at the steering wheel after I"d foolishly used a hammer to help remove the steering wheel. I finally pulled the column to replace the seal, and discovered some broken springs that actuate the valve. It turns out there had been a service bulletin and an updated part number. The...

'58 Chevy 235 top end oiling issue

If I remember correctly, the cam bearings are drilled to allow passage of oil up through the block. If the bearing is not installed correctly, no oil can pass. Also, one or more of the main bearings is drilled on one side only, and if installed wrong, will starve the bearing of oil. Not fun to...

    GMC COE

Hi Wayne, it's good to hear of another strange person who likes those old trucks. I have a '57 Chev 5700 2-ton LCF. I rescued it from an orchard where it had sat for over 40 years. What engine does yours have?

brakes on my 78 c60 chevrolet

When you bled the brakes, did you start with the bleeder on the hydrovac? If not, you are pushing air into the system every time you push the pedal. Bleed order: 1- Master cylinder (if it has a screw); 2- Hydrovac; 3 - Right rear; 4 - Left rear; 5 - Right front; 6 - Left front

MF 202 Shifting Rail / Fork

I just broke the same shift fork in my MF-135. Same transmission. I didn't feel like doing the work, so I took it to the dealer. They split the tractor in 3 pieces and DID NOT remove the steering column. I was astounded, as that was the part I was dreading the most. Unbolt the column and the...
