    880/770 advert

Very interesting brochure. Thanks for posting. With all the changes Oliver made to the 880 to make it into a wheatland , it looks like they almost made a 990. Maybe they should have put the 302 engine In the 880 chassis and abandoned the 990 platform. Probably would have needed a beefed...

All the talk about cold weather. What is the coldest you

Ill bet that was December 1989. Manhattan was -28 with wind one morning during finals week. Almost everyone on campus,if walking north, was walking backwards. Kind of comical to see, but no one was laughing

    Oliver 5440 plow

Im looking for replacement shins for my 5440 plow. The part number stamped on back is EP7488E. This plow has a #225 moldboard. Not sure if that makes any difference. Ive looked at Shoup Mfg. it appears my hole spacing is different than what they have to offer. Their shin claims to replace...

    New Holland Rake Hitch ID???

Dont know if they had a model number. They were a tandem hitch for a right and left hand rake. Like a 258 and 260 combination. Good part is they are adjustable for different width windrows. The bad part is the negative tongue load. Dont let it flip up and knock your teeth out. They also rattle alot

    Hedge Apple

Your neighbor had good intentions, but definitely went about the wrong way. When trying to clean up a pasture I try to make sure they are good and dead from chemical applications before cutting or dozing. An old timer here in se Kansas once told me if you kill one, ten will come to its...

    Wire-Tie Balers

Here in Kansas prairie hay country most small square bales were wire tied. Just not that many small squares made anymore. Man I would like to find some $10 wire. Ive baled just over 4000 bales so far this summer, all with the $90 wire. Usually figure about 750 bales out of two boxes of wire...

Heston 555T twine electric over hydraulic / Remote off o

I replied to your earlier post. I re read your post and I guess I didnt address your question about running the twine arms after you drop the bale. Im confused about that, there should be no reason to move the twine arms after the bale is out of the baler. Like I said earlier my baler is a...

    Re: Heston 555T Monitor Hookup

Ive got a caseih 8455 which is the same baler. I will try to describe the tying process. Step 1. Full bale alarm sounds stop forward travel. Push remote lever to down position. ( this sends the twine arms to the full left position). Step 2. After brief hesitation again push same lever the same...

    gleaner e floods frequently

I replaced the mechanical pump on my E III with a carter electric pump and it pumped fuel past the float valve. I installed an in-line fuel pressure regulator. Seemed to solve the problem.

Re: Hay equipment for starting small acreage

Good grief, I need to learn to read entire post. You clearly state you are setting timing, sorry

Re: Hay equipment for starting small acreage

Remember that needle -to- plunger timing is affected by main drive chain and feeder fork - to - plunger timing is affected by feeder chain. If you remove these be sure to time baler per manual. Otherwise expensive parts get broken..

New Holland 488 haybine connecting links

I installed mine turned over. Also put in a grease zerk. This was 8 or 10 years ago, so must not make a difference, and it seemed to make more sense. It was quite a job, for me anyway. Bottle jack or two. A high lift jack between axle and cutter bar. Seems like there was a come-along involved...

    Allis charmers upcoming aution

Im not an AC guy but I saw this upcoming auction near Leavenworth Kansas. A collection of tractors and equipment. Ive never seen a rollover snap coupler plow. I dont know how to make a link, but go to Sullivanauctioneers.com to see sale bill. I didnt see where this had been posted here before...

    Unusual engine problem

Whats your rotor look like? Is it seated like it should be and fairly snug? An old man neighbor told me a story once about a car he had where the rotor would jump up off the shaft. I cant remember the details, I would think it would have destroyed the cap though. But If this was possible and...
