    Caterpiggly Fifteen

    Saw this little guy off Hwy. 16 south of Rapid City. I was amazed at all the patent numbers and the date June 6, 1918. Looks like it may have been built in South America.

    Because after it has been running it wont start again until its cold. It's the only thing left. I have new wires, new ignition switch, new condenser, and new points. Dont know what else could be causing it.

    Mine is a side mounted 6v distibutor. The coil is a 6v with the saying" Not for use with external resistor". I got it from TSC.

    Does a 1950 8n have a ballast resistor? And where would it be located, how can I tell if its bad, and where do I get a new one. The 6v coil I just put on says "not for use with external resistor". Did I get the wrong coil? Any help greatly appreciated.

    8n wont start.

    Thanks to all who responded with great tips. I found the problem. The replacement wires I bought from TSC which were supposed to be custom for the 8n. Turns out the coil wire was not making good contact with the coil. After a little modification, she fired right up. Thanks again to all who...
