    Yes, oats are just starting to turn...and, no the M variable speed is waiting on a new used main shaft, sheaves, etc...previous owner has them located and yard is trying to get time to pull them...hopefully any day now...I'll try to get some oat pics up in a day or two

    Thanks Bob...yes, it is the external hydraulic cylinder and the outer yoke...looks like somebody has already had that outer sheave bored and an oversized bronze bushing pressed in it that has now worn along with the shaft...I figured even a small 1/16" of play would cause a lot of vibration but...

    Have a lot of vibration...the outer sheave bushing and the outer end of the shaft have enough wear to cause about 1/16" of play between the two...the outer hub end of the sheave also has about the same amount of play with the outer yoke bearing...the shaft and its bearings seem to be running...

    Finally settled on buying this M and drove it 160 miles home...overall seems to be a solid machine...20' header and is a corn and bean special...that diesel engine purred and was really fuel friendly, thank goodness...have a few issues to work out but nothing serious I believe, at least at this...
