Sad news - the Tractor world has lost Bruce(VA)

I just saw this. Bruce was an awesome resource for us on this forum. I am very sad to hear this news. He helped me with my Model A also. Very articulate in his responses. We lost a great member. RIP. Jimps in GA.

    A piece of 8N history: X-8N1

The owner bought it from the Ford museum in Dearborn along with ALOT of vehicles and parts. He told me that it was a prototype for the new 8N series, so it may not look like the final product. I took my 1928 "restored" Model A Sport Coupe to him yesterday to get technical advice and...

    A piece of 8N history: X-8N1

Owned by a private collector with a LOT of Ford antiques. He asked to not be identified but allowed me to post some pics. Jimps in GA.

    8 n hydraulic pump

I had the same problem several years back. The new chambers were just too wide. I used an angle grinder to relieve some of the excess material and ground down the head of one bolt. It was on the lower right corner of either the left or right chamber only (see 2nd pic below). Not sure which...

9n will not start after running great

I posted a short video demonstrating how to do a simple motoring test on a 6 volt generator without removing it from the tractor. Here is the link to the video: Generator Motoring Test Thanks to souNdguy for the step-by-step and to DON TX for suggesting the video idea. Jimps in GA.

    Ford 120 8NNN part numbers

Aha! Now I know what the "ears" on my replacement industrial engine originally looked like! Hobo, this is apparently what you were asking about on my industrial engine, the channel iron on the sides. Here are some better pics of my industrial engine with the ears cut off...

    Help identifying Industrial Engine

Tim, I was told that the engine never had an oil filter. That does seem odd. I haven't used this tractor very much since I got the "new" engine because the clutch needs replacing and I have another 8N that I use primarily. I already have an oil filter unit to add when I do the clutch...

    Help identifying Industrial Engine

Hobo, The channel iron you are seeing is part of the front cover. There is a similar piece on the other side as well that was also cut off. It does not appear to be a standard front cover, and it is one cast. The story I got from the man who sold me the engine said that it was part of a...

    Help identifying Industrial Engine

It did not come with an oil filter, but I have one to install when I do a split to replace the clutch in the next few weeks. No plate on the bell housing. Thanks, Jimps in GA.

    Help identifying Industrial Engine

I have a 1952 8N that had an engine swap about 10 years ago with an engine that I was told came off of an irrigation pump. I would like to know the approximate year of the engine and the CID. It has a front mount distributor and has been converted to 12 volts negative ground with a hogged-out...
