    sandblaster

Breathing the dust from blasting with regular sand will lead to a lung disease called scoliocis-BAD stuff. Coarse sand works great and its cheap, but use a resperator. A pressure pot, high capacity compressor, and breathing apparatus can be rented far cheaper than buying cheapo blasters for a...

    OT... 2001 Silverado heater

My 2004 Silverado won't heat up after one of my coworkers rides in it. I have to wiggle the connecter at the heater box just above the transmission hump inside the cab then it works again. My wife's 2004 Taho quit getting hot last weekend and the coolant level in the radiator was about 3 inches...

    Frozen door locks - help!

Use a cigarette lighter to heat up the key. May take several reheats, but better than breaking off a key in the lock.

    Ford 601

All 601 Fords were 4 cyl. BUT around mid November this year I saw an English made Dexta wearing 600 decals. Didn"t fool many though.

    o t. painting galvanized steel ?

Ace hardware sells a paint called "Hammerite". No primer, just brush it on an go. I used some on some corral panels I made about 10 years ago and have had no problems yet. This stuff does fade to a grey in a year or two but that ain"t a problem to me.

    brush cutter

Make time for those chains. Even with chains in place enough stuff gets throwed out of the front. One of these with out chains can hurt you.

Keep in mind you can haul a little bitty load in a great big truck. You cannot haul a great big load in a little bitty truck.

    Low Power

Depends. I'm not really familiar with JD parts prices, a comparable Ford tractor would need about $400.00 in after market parts or $600.00 in parts purchased at a dealer. Do it yourself and that's it. Pay a "Roscoe's Rapid Reepair" sort of place to do the labor add $450.00, or pay a JD dealer...

    which loader?

My 3930 has a Bushhog 2426 QT loader on it that I am happy with. The only way you're gonna get fast loader action on a 3930 is to add a second hydro pump. New Holland makes a kit to do just that. I ain't in a hurry though.

    Rebuild Kit

I agree with ya Dunk. If some is good then more is better so way too much orta be bout right. In a small bore, long stroke, low RPM, high torque tractor motor, ring drag ain't much of a consideration. Back in my drag racing days I learned that a 40% reduction in ring friction was good for about...

    chrome emblems

Check out Hemmings Motor News. I know it's available at most magazine stands and is prolly accessable via the web. Lots of companies advertise there that specialise in restoring old emblems. Most are quite reputable none are cheap.

    Head bolts

I would recomend against stainless for head studs. Even when useing antisieze the threads tend to gall, and that throws torque values vs clamping force all outa whack. The thermal expansion rates are also higher. Stainless when stretched wants to stay stretched, it has little spring value...
