    Lisa and her 243

Curious to know...tell me more about your hunting experiences there in Florida. My dad lived on the banana river for many years so I am sort of familiar with the area but not with the game there. Would you enlighten me? He was more of a short wave fanatic vs a hunter so I never learned anything...

They say if you can skin them almost right away, that game taste is minimized to non existent. That elk I took had no game taste at all. Took him straight to Phoenix and had him processed same day. Much better taste than venison in my opinion. Even black bear tastes better than venison but has...

    Lisa and her 243

I have always wanted a Gustaf. Finally found one after a 7 year search dated 1899 and is ultra mint. Fella was thinning out his collection and I stayed $100 higher than the rest to the point they gave up. 2 weeks later my gun smith told me he was selling his 6.5he built for himself. His wife was...

    Lisa and her 243

Don't know about hunting safety courses since I've been hunting for some 47 years and tinkering with guns for 50 years now. You sound like your heading in the right direction if you plan to develop a recipe for that 243. I have one here and love the non-existent recoil and low bark. I hope you...

OT Lisa, You planning to guard the tractor inventory or fill the freezer with that 243? I ask because I have a special interest in this caliber. John

    6 volt generator

Tom...by the way, if you want a bolt-on-turn-key gen...I understand. I did and it happened. If you want one to rebuild, I'd be happy to send 2 to you that you could probably make one from...can't promise anything but it's a option for you. One is a good candidate for a rebuild while the other...

One more question before the snow falls.....

jleus, Good description and I thank you. Maybe you need a F04 manual. You won't have to use the brain as much with the diagrams it contains. These tractors are pretty simple really but as with all "things"...there's a science behind it. John

One more question before the snow falls.....

Hi Guy, Yea, I see that now in my F04. I have the switch out / examined it and now think it's a battery issue more than anything. There were several times ( generally after happy hour ) that I hooked the trickle charger up forgetting it's positive ground. This battery is still starting the...

One more question before the snow falls.....

Okay but the switch pushes a rod into the relay to bump the starter over? Trying to picture this in my mind. I have a FO-4 but haven't looked that up yet.

    6 volt generator

I can't remember the name of the guy I got my gen from on this forum (age showing again) but it's been a jewel. He had it rebuilt but converted over to 12V. Gen sat on a shelf at his place for a year or so when I bought it. Hope you get a good one. John

One more question before the snow falls.....

Hi H...Good, I thought the steering column had to be disassembled. Wasn't looking forward to that. John

One more question before the snow falls.....

Hi Guy, It's a 2N. Shorting it is what I did to get it started last night, and yes, this is a 3 spd tranny. Wear in the linkage makes sense to me. That thing can unbolted and removed from the front of the steering column? John

    6 volt generator

Tom, Was that your 6 volt genny I bought? John

One more question before the snow falls.....

This is in reference to a 47 2N, front mount dist. and overall, stock setup w/6volt system. I believe my battery has all but expired. It's going on 3-1/2 - 4 years old and was used with the gen that came with the tractor. That gen never showed me much of anything on the gauge but that gen has...

    Requesting winter oil weights suggestions

Many thanks everyone for your advice. I'll print this and get to work while weather permits. I think I'll do the mag heaters also this winter. Last winter, just engaging the PTO was enough to try to stall the engine everything was so thick. John
