    Lesson Learned.

yes. your C has a strainer not a filter. It is on the left side of the touch control box below the fill plug. be careful when removing it so you don't tear the seam. If I remember correctly they are not cheap.

    diesel slobber from exhaust

thanks for the info. I found a wire brush that just happened to be the right size to fit in the manifold. Between that, a screwdriver and some carb cleaner I was able to get it pretty clean. There was enough crud to fill up a mason jar and the manifold isn't very big. We'll see how it runs now.

    diesel slobber from exhaust

thanks for the replies. I'll start giving it a little more throttle. I mainly use the tractor for cultivation so it doesn't ever really pull a heavy load. I'll find a chore for it to do every now and then to really work it. Also, I've only had it for a short time. Only ran one tank of fuel...

    diesel slobber from exhaust

I have a Kubota l245h that has been running fine until the other day I was cultivating carrots and black dieselish liquid started running out of the exhaust stack. I thought it was oil at first but I'm pretty sure it was diesel with soot mixed in. It spattered a little onto the hood but mostly...

    Wheel-Powered Manure Spreaders

I run my pto powered spreader behind a 130 all the time. Live pto isn't really a problem like it would be with a bush hog. I never knew about variable speed ground drives. I still like the option of sitting stationary and piling out of the spreader.

    Wheel-Powered Manure Spreaders

I have found the pto driven spreaders to be much better. With pto you have much more flexibility with how thickly you spread the manure or you can sit stationary and pile it. Ground drives will slip if you fill it to high. I have a 9ft. long mill creek spreader. Hold three bucket loads and...

    C123 engine head gasket

You're correct. Couldn't remember exact numbers. It will definately leek at 65. 80 got the job done.

    C123 engine head gasket

just went through this. the manual said 45lbs. torque but it needs to be higher. I can't remember off the top of my head 65 maybe. Google the torque for tractors using that engine, 130, 140 and that should come up with the correct torque.

    Cub tractor won't spark

no, I shut it down. It was losing power and blowing smoke out of the dipstick and oil pressure was at zero.

    Cub tractor won't spark

ended up being the ignition switch. It tested good for continuity and voltage but just wasn't letting enough current through. Started right up after I replaced the switch, ran for a while then lost oil pressure and power. Parked it and am deciding how to proceed. I am very frustrated but I...

    Cub tractor won't spark

Here is the run down: cub has been sitting for a year while I found time to work on it. rebuilt motor, a little paint and finally got it back together. Wouldn't start when I first cranked it so I started checking the usual suspects. Whittled it down to not getting spark so I checked the...

    farmall engine overhaul

My manual said that for my engine serial number the head bolt torque is 65. Later models are 85. Maybe I should have gone to 85 and that is my problem.

    farmall engine overhaul

Thanks for everyone's responses. Both head gaskets were brand new. The second one was a felpro. Engine was cool when the head was removed and was torqued in stages using the proper sequence. Coolant is leaking internally and externally and in some spots is coming out from the between the...

    farmall engine overhaul

so the other day while I was hauling manure with my farmall 130 I stopped for a second to do something and when I started moving again the engine started making a significant knock. I immediately parked it and shut it down. Pulled the head off and found that one of the throttle plate screw...
