    On my M, the external resistor for the 12V coil gets very hot to the touch when I hook up the battery. It only takes about 30 seconds and the resistor starts smoking.     I got it installed! Took the cover off the side of the governor and rotated the gear back and forth several times and it went in. I agree, there must be a tolerance stack up issue.
