Preparing to do a 1st time split

I can see where those different sizes would come in handy.

    Reasonable labor parts opinion please

I guess I'll have to see it to understand. The sherman has to be in there somewhere? John

    Reasonable labor parts opinion please

Do I need to pull the sherman to get at the trans seal. According to the pics I saw, theres 2 possible seals that could be replaced? John

    Reasonable labor parts opinion please

Thank you - I'd feel good about that and the fact that it would be in good hands and I'd probably want to help just to learn. But I guess it is what it is this time. I just got a call from Napa, 1350.00 - 1500.00 depending on parts needed and still I'd have to get it to them. John

    Reasonable labor parts opinion please

THAT was interesting! and can help a novice like myself feel better about diving in. I didn't see all the pics. I hope they show the hydraulics, rear and pto. Someone had a lot of spare time! Thanks Joe. John

Front sherman seal..didnt know about that one. Does the sherman have to come out to put the tranny seal in? Yea between those 2 seals and when I get to the pto bearing & seal next spring, Things should be looking pretty good!

Driveway is asphalt, does much oil drop out during the split? or should the trans to rear be drained also? Never seen the inside of one of...

    Reasonable labor parts opinion please

I've been asking around to see what a clutch job, trans seal would run. I hear a spread of 5oo (350 labor, 200 parts) miles way so towing would be addl 200 probably to near 4K from a shop right up the street. Any opinions what reasonable is? Never changed a clutch before but looks like I might...

Old - Guess you might be right

I believe it. Makes me wish I was right down the road from your place but then again, I would probably be in for a heap more snow than expected here. I was thinking if I have to split this thing, I want to drill the holes out a litter bigger to avoid the sludge backups. Sort of a more fail safe...
