    Blimps

Goodyear in Akron Ohio still runs the Blimps. They are very helpful and nice people. My dad was an engineer for the blimp team in the 50's and 60's. For my tenth birthday he arranged a ride for me. What a cool thing that was. As luck would have it, my line of work brought me back to Akron to...

    No metric wrenches?

I was helping a friend replace the water pump on a jap car several years back when they actually included a wrench kit with the car. The first thing that happened was the wrench stripped out on the first bolt. Just rounded out like it was made of lead. He went and bought a new metric set and...

    Snowblowers

I don't know about Ariens. They bought up Gravely and managed to turn a great name into junk. I have a 50 year old Gravely L with a "Dog eater" snow blower. Use it every year and it still tosses the snow right over the roof of my house.

    Broke Another Camera

Was brush hogging with my Gravely two wheeler and sulky. Had the camera in my pocket for some nice shots when I was finished. Yep, that handlebar whipped around and caught the camera in my pocket. Stupid camera still took pictures except they were an overlay of the last pic I took, a broken lens...

OT Solid vs stranded copper wire

The reason is "skin effect" and at 60 Hz it is totally negligible. At power line frequencies, stranded and solid wires will carry the same current for equivalent AWG. Also to take advantage of stranded in high frequency applications, one needs to employ "Litz" wire which each strand is...

    Gravely 8123 engine swap

The adapter plate might fit, those tend to be standard but Gravely had Kohler and Onan put a special end on the crankshaft. That is likely to be a problem.
