Hi J. Wondergem, Not sure why it failed as a root cause. It just wore out very quickly and came apart. It may be because the crank pully is wider than the alt and hyd pump but...a regular fanbelt settles in there just fine and is running with no problems. It was genuine link belt brand. Old duffer new to the crowd
Thanks Skipper II. I figure it was right hand but, better to ask first. The tractor has a front mount hydraulic pump. Two bolt crank pully with a suitable pice of metal starp as connection but also spot welded to the nut so the nut must come off. I am trying a link belt first after reading...- Jollyrancher

Hello to All. I have a Fordson Major 1954. It has a loader so front hydraulic pum drives off front of crank pulley. I need to change the fan belt. Is the large nut on the end of crank where the hand crank used to be regular thread or left hand thread? Thanks in advance to those who...- Jollyrancher
