    Blue streak points

Reviving an old post. For the Ford tractors, Blue streak isn't an option anymore. For the side mount and 600-800 series Fd8081 will be your Standard premium points. FD8081T will be the Standard T series economy points. I have the FD8081 in my 860, been in there about a year and a half, 65...

    Ford 860 input shaft shims

Thank you! You appear to have 3 of those thrust washers, mine only has 2. I'm also questioning the larger thrust washer where the outer input shaft goes into the seal retainer. My shop manual shows 2 thrust washers there, but my parts manual shows 860 had 1 and 861 had 2?

    Ford 860 input shaft shims

Doing a clutch in my 860 due to leaking input shaft seals. At the rear of the shaft, where the inner and outer shafts butt up to each other, there are shim washers. The parts manual shows 3. Two are the same part number with a different part number sandwiched in the middle. Mine just had 2...

5W-40 synyhetic oil in a garden tractor engine.

I also like the Amsoil small engine oil you link to. I have used that for years in a couple small engines. I'm sure it would work well in an Onan. Lots of zinc and a good additive package that is missing from modern automobile engine oils.

5W-40 synyhetic oil in a garden tractor engine.

Tom, maybe you should read some of the posts on the site you suggest we all read. I have been a member for years and Rotella 5w40 is one of the most recommended oils in the small engine forums. There are many oil analysis that support that 5w40 is a great oil for small engine use. Times change...

5W-40 synyhetic oil in a garden tractor engine.

5w40 synthetic is an ideal oil for your onan. I assume your speaking of Rotella or Delo? I have used Rotella 5w40 in several small engines and it works fantastic.

    1520 knock ?

If it ends up being an injector, do yourself a favor and replace all 3. I went through this on my moms tractor. Had 1 dead cylinder so I replaced the 1 bad injector. The others failed within a year. You can buy aftermarket injectors for $30-40 each. I don't know if this site sells them, if not...

OT Belt tensioner on 93 Silverado

Just use a socket and long ratchet or breaker bar on the bolt that holds the idler pulley to the tensioner. I have a 93 chevy and that is the proper way to do it.

Onan compare to Honda compare to Briggs vangaurd

Briggs Vanguard are certainly a good engine, look at alot if commercial equipment, small saw mills, stump grinders ect.. you will see a Vanguard engine. Honda's are also a good engine. onan is a good engine but they are no longer being made and parts are getting expensive and harder to...

    Oil filter

I have to double up the gaskets on mine to, and I buy the Wix filters. I have tried a few different brands of filter and all will leak unless you double up the gaskets. I like the construction of the Wix/ Napa gold the best, so I just stick with those and double up the gaskets, hasn't leaked...

    jd 317

Not all the series II has the oil filter block of plate. I have one that does not. On a 317 you want to look for spec 24301 or higher, that is the spec for a series II. If you can't find a spec tag, in the a pics in the above post, above where the red circles are, there is a small plug. If the...
