    Lift issues....

Disassembled the pump look what I found... also the two rollers to the left appear to be from an old roller bearing that came apart an owner or two ago (current bearing is intact, to the right). Lucky me he left those spare parts in the pump for me. Oddly enough, the chunk of that plate is...

    Lift issues....

Went out and made my adjustments today, main spring was way out of whack, much better now. With the tractor running at idle I loosened the bleeder plug on the pump and right about the time fluid started to flow out you could feel the pulsation pretty strong. That confirms to me that it is after...

    Lift issues....

Thats a great way to describe it. I'm pretty sure I have 2 problems, one being the adjustment and the second being probably the pump. I have a remote kit arriving tomorrow so if I have the same "miss" using that ill know for sure its not in my lift but another finger pointing at the pump

    Lift issues....

Silly me haha, ford 851. I am familiar with the bleeding screw. Will give that a try. I assumed any air would be naturally worked out over time but this issue has been going on for a while so maybe not.

    Lift issues....

Ford 851 Chattering....? Not sure the best word to use here. Chattering comes to mind. When lifting, my arms shake, chatter, shake as iff they were being raised over an enourmous file. I wouldnt descride it as hiccups, and it doesnt fall, it just.... chatters.... why? -I rebuit the lift cover...

    Help me understand remote hydraulics

chevytaHOE5674 & Sean in PA, Thank you both. I like the idea of installing a single/double action valve as I posted originally. If this will work.... do either of you know if these one has a detent? That could do very well for me if I could use it for the pounder with the return line tapped...

    Help me understand remote hydraulics

Very good explanation of how the plate works, I appreciate it! After reading chevytaHOE5674 reply, I don't believe the plate will suit my needs as I need unrestricted return flow for the pounder to well.... pound. Now I need just as detailed of a description on how the single and double action...

    Help me understand remote hydraulics

This is exactly the problem I am worried about with using that plate kit. Thank you for clearing that up. So, how on earth am I going to hook this bad boy up? Haha

    Help me understand remote hydraulics

Paul, The tractor control valve you mentioned, is that what I have in the first link "valve" I have listed above? I have no issue with that I just want to understand the working of it. So that valve is an open design allowing constant flow? And does that valve have a lock or detent allowing me...

    Help me understand remote hydraulics

Hello all, I have a Ford 851 that currently has no auxiliary/remote hydraulics. I recently purchased a post pounder I'd like to get going. What I am having a hard time with is what exactly I need on the tractor to be able to hook up. I thought I needed this control valve: Valve But then after...

    801 engine refresh

Update. Pulled pistons today, cylinders look good, no scoring on walls or pistons. Some wear on the rod bearings. Went to measure journals but my digital caliper battery is dead. Womp whomp. Gotta find a battery so I can ensure I order the correct size bearings, and double check for...

    801 engine refresh

I will pull pistons tomorrow and see for sure the answer to both of those. I should have said in original post, this is not a restore, or a parade queen tractor. It gets used on the farm, I'm not looking for perfection.

    801 engine refresh

I have no idea of the hours on this old gal. I've had it 4 years and it hasn't had an hour meter on it since before I got it.

    801 engine refresh

Hello everyone, Looking for some advice on my 801 gas. I had to pull the head, blew the gasket, and decided since I'm in it, I'm gonna freshen it up. My hangup is the sleeves. I'll be honest, I'm a little scared to mess with them. Afraid of running into problems with the...
