    Pete, I had to beat the He!! out of mine, like others said - loosen nuts, smack around rim with a BFH, don't beat on the RIM unless you have something to soften the blows.

    get cha a volt/ohm meter - analog or digital. set it to 12volts+ on the DC scale. Place the black probe on ground (neg ground system)- shiny spot on tractor. place red lead on batt side of post on solenoid, should read 12+ volts (6 volt system should be 6+ volts.) Should have same voltage at...

    you said "got 12 volts to solenoid" did you check the OTHER side with the toggle on? Also - are ALL conections bright and tight?

    OT - Gasoline Quality

    I always heard that gas from the big boys was considered "branded" and was typically better than unbranded gas from "little" companies, then again I have heard that the unbranded is the same stuff from the same companies via a different truck....any thoughts on this?

    Bruce is this the same stuff as PH UP in the pool supply places? I buy a lot of PH UP to increase my PH in my little outdoor pool. Acid rain is always lowering it and I have to add almost 4 lbs a to get 12,500 gallons up from 6.8 to 7.0 PH, if so - it is about 6 bucks for 4 lbs of the stuff!

    Oil bath air filters

    Mf, I always thought that oil was a better bath and it seems that it is a better bath, but many on here will explain why a paper element is better. I remember old cars with oil bath filters. The way the 8n does it seems like a perfect system....if the oil is of right viscosityand right level !!!

    OT-Ford Explorer Alternator

    I had an old ford torino that had a hellava electrical problems.......my alternator was charging upwards of 15+ volts....battery was being cooked to death.....after 1 month of trying everything, found that the "ground" strap from the engine to the chassis and battery was frayed.....new ground...
