Another weird issue with my TO 30

Hey that rubber horn, should that have a clamp at base of it on the screen end and a clamp at the bottom as well? Or does it simply slide on both ends and that’s it?

Another weird issue with my TO 30

That was my plan of action. It’s most likely not a big deal, but I somthing I thought would be interesting to present to this group.

Another weird issue with my TO 30

So while changing my oil and tuning up my TO30 I found a yet another odd anomoly with my tractor. When I cover the screen for the breather, the one on my dash, with my hand it will not kill the engine. I inspected all hoses, tightened all clamps and sprayed carb cleaner around all connections...

    Question for the experts..

I changed the oil today and done a few other adjustments, cleaned my points, rotor and replaced cap. I also cleaned the air breather tube on the engine. I ran it for an hour and rechecked the oil.. it’s perfect. Hopefully that took care of that! One other anomaly I noticed today, when I put may...

    Question for the experts..

I’ve had this old Ferguson TO30 for a very long time. I checked the oil this evening and the oil was greyish, it sits in an unheated lean-to and from time to time I start it just to make sure the battery is up to snuff. There is no oil in the antifreeze and the oil level itself is showing full...

Question about a pto seal for a to30

Yep, I’ve done this job quite a few times, it just seems like it’s getting harder and harder to get parts that I actually want, I would have rather had the metal encased rubber vs all rubber. I installed the rebuilt pto shaft and it seems like it’s sealed up nice… time will tell.

Question about a pto seal for a to30

I ordered a new seal for my Ferguson, it showed a picture of a metal encased rubber seal which is what I had in the the housing to begin with, when it arrived and I pulled it out of the box is a complete rubber seal with no metal housing around the rubber. Anyone ever use one of those? I’ve...

    TO30 carb questions.

Ya, those aren’t really reliable. You need the type that screws into the plug hole. You’re probably fine to simply clean carb and reassemble. Give it a shot and let us know how it goes!

    TO30 carb questions.

I agree, the compression seems pretty low. I’d run another compression test to double check. If it is still low, pull each plug out and squirt some oil in the cylinder and see if it pops up, if it stays the same then its valves, if the compression comes up after adding oil to the cylinder then...

    TO30 carb questions.

Take your carb back off, disassemble it again and soak it in chem dip for at least two days. Then run a wire through every hole to ensure it’s clear of any debris, then blow all holes out. If your float was stuck shut or open it signifies ( at least to me) that you have had bad gas or moisture...

Difference in my old PTO seal the new one

I’ve got my bearing back in, front clip and middle clip in place, I’m just waiting to see about the seal width before I order one, install it, install the shaft and final smaller clip.

Difference in my old PTO seal the new one

Will I need to shim it behind the small clip then to make up the difference?

Difference in my old PTO seal the new one

Hi all, I’ve recently took a pto shaft apart for a TO30 and am in need of a pto seal. I’ve measured the O.D, the I.D. And the width of the old seal. I can match all the measurements on a new seal… except the thickness or width, my old one is 7/8 thick, all the new ones that are offered are 5/8...

    PTO Issues on my TO30

I have and it seems fine, the groove on the shaft of my used on my bench seems fine, it has about 1/4 inch end play though.
