Same plugs, points, and coil as a side mount distributor 1950 8N up to 1964 Ford tractors. Also the same as Ford cars and trucks from 1948 to 1951 with the flathead 226 CI engine. Rebuilding Funk 8N Governor
Congratulations on your inheritance. Funk used the stock 8N governor with the Funk custom pulley and Funk front mount plate. The pulley is just pressed onto the 8N governor shaft, so the best way to remove it is a press. Just be careful where you support the pully as not to break the belt...- KCM

1954 Ford 630 exhaust

rear Hubs interchangeable from 9n to 8n
The rear axles and wheel discs are totally different between a 9N/2N and 8N, so are not interchangeable. The hub is permanently attached to the axle, unlike the 8N. Rear rims are interchangeable. Sherman Gaskets
Redneck trick I guess to make a gasket, but it works amazingly well. I usually measure the old gasket with a micrometer to find out the thickness and find a gasket material close. The old gasket will be slightly thinner due to compression when tightened. But on the Sherman, thickness should...- KCM

I would also get some Plastigauge and check the clearance on all of the rod bearings and especially main bearings to make sure the clearance is within specifications.
