    1755 Fresh Overhaul Over Fuel ?

    gray wld be unburnt fuel, white wld b coolant, but i'm sure some do describe gray as white. diesels don't seem to run for long if you see a lot of white exhaust! haha. shld be able to hear a miss, but an injector could b stuck open, or opening at slightly wrong time.

    Substitute for Type A transmission fluid

    dex3 in every unit i've ever owned. never a prob w O/D clutch, U sprag, [or bearing] wear, but i've rebuilt a couple for other reasons. i change the oil & filter every 200-250h.

    WTB: Underslung 1655

    easier to find a normal RC & buy the front axle you want separately from salvage. usually can find the axles on CL or FBMP if you don't mind freight, or a drive. 15.5-38 w 7.5-15 up front & you have a great spray or mounted cultivator rig.

    a few other spots you'll love: rear air cleaner nuts, replacing steering valve oil lines, lower radiator hose, inside/bottom nut on the injection pump, & clearing a clogged oil cooler drain after someone decided to dump a can of "stop leak" into the rad & was too lazy to flush out after it *worked.*

    lol. fun times. it is a CF on that side w 4 hoses for dual remotes, pto valve lines, and the cat3 cyl and hose. you can drop the cat3 cyls easily IF the bottom pins aren't rusted in from sitting outside. they decided to skip a grease zerk for those, but top pins have them with a lot less...

    if the main relief spring isn't broken, just shim it and see if the pressure increases. if it doesn't, you might have a problem with the relief on the oil pump (or the pump is worn).

    the main thing with the interlock valves and main spools is being clean and free of burrs/deformations. was there any grit/hard stuff in the "crud" you removed from cover or pan? it's imperative to keep hydraulic receivers and attachment hose ends very clean. the filter is behind the pump so...

    those equipped w coolers had additional bypass/relief valves for the cooler and bypass filter circuits, but that doesn't change the purpose of the relief valve on the main gallery at the front of the block, which is post pump, cooler, and filter(s).

    190F seems too hot unless it's 110F ambient and the system is getting worked. there is a small metal tray under the pump inlet that is welded to the steel pan that forms the floor of the hydraulic res. it can break free from the welds over time and get sucked up against the inlet, partially...

    is the 15-17psi by the gauge on the dash? if so, check it with a good test gauge at the rear of the block. should be 25-30psi hot at idle. and no, the bypass valve in the filter base you removed only provides an alternate path when the filter is clogged. you removed the bypass path so full flow...

    no. i've never bought a build card for any Olivers, despite considering it a few times in the past. that might provide another clue though, or at least confirm whether the engine came with the tractor originally.
