need help with obsolete data base

Could be dbase, an early data base program. I used it in the late 80s on a Radio Shack IBM compatible model 2000 I think. File extension is .dbf. Those ca n be opened in excel or similar or there is a dbf viewer available.

    Tractor Battery Question

My little jd455, little bitty tractor, big lawnmower, uses the same battery. I’ve owned it for about 20 years and on my third battery. Walmart first, Atwood’s (farm store) most recent. I’ve experienced no real difference between brands in any vehicle over the years. Except my only failure...

    Clutch damper springs

Looks like improperly heat treated parts to me. Or just the wrong alloy to begin with.

    20 hp Kohler command?

I agree that it’s likely a lifter problem. Air cooled engines are not quiet runners, especially cold, so those of us with poor hearing never notice the clicks.

    Any furniture/wood gurus on here?

Start by by wiping a small area with a rag dampened with denatured alcohol. Not trying to remove, just soften and see if it will clear up. If not try the same with lacquer thinner. Report back for the next step

    Broken studs

Way back when one of the specialty tool companies made thin-walled hole saw specially for that. Maybe an old time auto machinist may have one. This dates back to flathead ford days though so may be hard to find

How close have you come to burning your house?

Air supply is a good idea. Also, is it possible that the furnace is jetted for natural gas instead of propane? That should obvious as it will allow too much propane and should make for an orange/red flame instead of the needed bright blue.

    Variable frequency drive

I may be wrong, but they lose HP but not torque. The torque is constant and that's what keeps a drill turning, not HP. Since hp is calculated from torque and rpm, it does go down, but that doesn't mean the drill won't keep turning

    Identify this Ford motor?

definitely not original to the truck. The fan indicates it was sourced from a truck, not car or pickup. Only trucks had that high and center fan above the water pump.

    trailer brake away brakes

Shouldn't drain, but it may just be a defective battery. I'd unhook the battery cables and see if it still discharges.

I store mine upside down. Makes the stirring a lot easier! If I have one a long time, alternate storing bottom and top up.

    Torches stop cutting

Yep, the steel is actually burned by hitting the molten puddle with pure O2. In the fab shops that service the oil industry around here, the position and equipment that cuts steel parts for tanks etc, is called the 'burning table' for that reason. The one's I've see in operation use natural...
