    Vintage pipe pliers/ wrench

I have a small version of that design pliers. Sold in the 50s/60s as a battery cable tool. Remove badly corroded/round clamp nuts. But mine looks much better, or did the last time I saw it.

    48 farmall cub

Turning the idle mixture rich or lean should not affect starting at all, at least in my experience. If it backfires when moving from idle to a faster running speed, that could be due to a lean idle setting. But, as others have said, it needs to be clean and dirt free internally first. A...

Dust Control on Gravel Farm Road

I remember the 'good' old days when the county road maintenance guys would spray the roads in front of houses with a light tar/oil to reduce the dust. Only for a few hundred feet in front of houses. Nobody worried about runoff into creeks or leaching into the water table. Back then the rural...

Looking for a Low to Medium Speed Angle Grinder

If you're looking for a 7" or so, not a little 4/4.5, take a look at buffers. They are much slower and most are adjustable now.

WARDS "GROUND ENGAGING GARDEN TRACTOR" hydro. shift linkage stuck

Even just straight auto trans fluid is better than WD-40. Add some solvent to thin it out and its much better.

WARDS "GROUND ENGAGING GARDEN TRACTOR" hydro. shift linkage stuck

Likely you have a two speed + N between the Hydro unit and differential. Lots of premium stuff back then used that setup, AC and JD come to mind. I suspect yours is Gilson made as they produced MW better stuff for years.

Can anyone tell me what this is ?

What engine does it have? They came with a Kohler twin that was problematic. JD issued a kit to swap in an Onan.

    16 year old needing advice

I know for a fact that that isn't true. I'm 83 and should be a genius due to the average mistakes per year I've made. And, I can assure you that I'm no genius.

Heifer to breed cow timeline question

My Granddad had cow/calve operation, along with a retail meat/custom butcher store for years. He also kept an Angus bull exclusively to breed first calf heifers. Mature cows were bred to a Hereford bull. He claimed the same reason, calves heads were smaller from the Angus. This was many...

    Parts Cleaner Sovent

I've used most of the things mentioned already. And one that hasn't been. Jet-A from the local airport. Twice as expensive as diesel (usually), kind of different right now. Half the cost of mineral spirits from Lowes. Almost identical to kerosene, so cleans better than diesel, less than...

    Heavy rust primer goop

I've used it but new cans. It was a little thick but was brushable out of the can. I thinned and sprayed a rusty tin roof then topped with white Rustoleum. Thinned with acetone for faster dry and sprayed with an airless. Mineral spirits don't flash off quick enough for me.

HP printer prints badly on same lines every time

I have both an older HP Laserjet and a newer HP Inkjet. Both work well with one BIG exception. The inkjet must be used frequently or the ink cartridges dry out and can't be cleaned. Then it's better to buy a new printer using some store's special pricing rather than ink only. The thing...

    Auction find

Last used one my senior year in HS, a l o n g time ago. 66 years! And, no I don't remember how to work one. I have one somewhere, probably with my drawing board, triangles etc.

    rice straw

Two acres would be small enough for my zero turn with mulching blades. I mow about 3 acres, about half of it is pasture so gets cut high. Takes an hour and a half approx. I think it would handle rice straw it easily at 4" or so height. Maybe make a pass with the rotary cutter set real high.
