    Typical issue. Heat a little, and melt candle wax into the seam, Pretty soon it will start to slide. Also, they can take a lot of heat, but not quite to red-hot on cast material.

    Use both. Source out your local conveyer-belt company. they use a 3M adhesive that is industrial and very permanent, however the belting should be reinforced with fasteners (carriage bolts) to further handle the load between rubber and steel. Many use just bolts, which is cleaner if ever...
